My partner and I came here for lunch, as we were really in the mood for some Caribbean food. This place is an absolute gem. Service was quick, even though all the tables had punters, and both drinks and food came quickly.
I had the vegetarian “Rasta plate”, while my partner opted for fried chicken, and we had the fried plantains, which were done in the same batter and style as the chicken. All the food was absolutely fantastic, and a special mention has to go the mustardy house hot sauce; I think I had about a quarter of the bottle! What I love about this type of food is that it’s not pretentious or clever, it’s just simple, delicious food that makes you feel happy. It’s pure comfort food.
We loved it so much that we came back in the evening with friends for dinner! We both had the same dishes again, with the addition of a side order of macaroni pie, as well as sharing a piece of delicious rum cake for dessert.
We visit Brighton every couple of months and have already decided that we’ll have to return to Bus Stop next time we’re in town.
The Bus Stop was a fantastic find just outside the lanes. I had probably the best fried chicken in my life. Not overly battered and yet still crispy. And wow the hot sauce they have is amazing. Just the right amount of heat and flavour. I also chose the Mac and Cheese bake which was soo good! My husband had a wrap and we both enjoyed lovely drinks off their fun tropical cocktail menu. Can't wait to go back and try more things off both the food and drinks menu.
There was live music when we arrived in the form of a steel drummer. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was great. I especially loved the Pholourie with mango chutney. There isnt any street parking if you're driving, but there is a car park not too far from the restaurant if you look for parking on Google. We came all the way from Croydon for this experience, and we were not disappointed. Amazing little place!
Amazing home cooked Carribean food in a friendly, bright environment. Highly recommend the jerk chicken and rum punch, my partner had Cajun fish and said it was delicious. It's time to support small start ups like this, especially when they are cooking at this level of tasty! Go now you won't be disappointed.
This Carribean restaurant serves some really nice food. The fried Bajan chicken is amazing! The dal was something similar to the dal from the Indian cuisine, but the rotis are super filling and tasty.
It was quick dinner experience for us. Burger was huge, and has an exotic flavour because of sauce and plantain I guess. But £10 is a bit expensive for burger with no fries. Anyway service was fine.
Hands down the most authentic Jamaican meal I've had in the longest time. It was my husband's birthday and even though it was the middle of the week, in the afternoon, service was exceptional. Incredible varieties of alcohol and the rum was exquisite. A must visit if you're in Brighton, super delicious!
Bus stop is amazing! The cocktails are so good and the food is just ace. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. Absolutely love it!
I love this place!! Went on a date for my birthday. The cocktails are pretty strong and the food comes fairly spicy. The house hot sauce is so good! I had the chicken roti which was huge and really good. The plantain is deep fried which I haven't had before but its good. You don't need to order a lot here as the portions are big (as it should be!) but don't worry if you can't finish it, you can take it away and it's just as good the next day. The location and interior is lovely on a nice day (even the sinks are cool...) staff are friendly and I would recommend for an authentic meal!
Food was really delicious, will definately be returning. Price is a tad bit high, but can be looked passed for the great experience and excellent service 😊
