Fish cooked beautifully. You choose fried, grilled or poached. I had the special grilled and loved it. All five of us very happy. Some veggie options. Beer wine and spirits. Call ahead to be sure of a table, but walk-ins available.

Great restaurant! I liked the option to have grilled or poached fish, as sometimes you don’t fancy batter. It was delicious. And the service was very good too.

Went on Saturday night with a toddler and a baby. Staff couldn't have been any more accommodating. The food was incredible. I had haddock and chips with a side of curry sauce while the toddler had fish bites chips and beans. The haddock was probably one of the best I've had in a long time and sitting in made the whole experience quite nostalgic. Not from the area so unfortunately can't make this a regular spot, however I will be back any time I'm in the Brighton area. Highly recommended. Also thank you to the staff for dealing with the mess of the toddler (split drinks; chips on the floor etc.). Much appreciated!

Fantastic fish and chips with curry sauce and mushy pees. In fairness, I don’t know what constitutes good mushy pees, but they were radioactive green, had the consistency of baby food and tasted like peas so I assume they were good. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and the chips were 100% carb goodness. Staff were attentive albeit a bit reserved.

Truly authentic fish and chips experience. Fantastic and friendly service. Prices are a little high but prices are rising everywhere and for a sit down service, with this quality, it was worth it. My German, Chillean and Italian colleagues were impressed too, which made my day.

I heard rumors that it is difficult to find a delicious restaurant, although it is famous enough to immediately remind me of fish and chips when I think of the UK. I went on a one-day trip to Brighton, but the place I was originally going to went out of business, so I just went there. I totally recommend it:D Fish and chips that I eat for the first time in England. The fish meat was soft and the fried clothes were not thick, so it was good, and the seasoning was not salty. The fried fish, which is also cut with a fork, was soft but not broken, and the fries were crude, but they were light and large in quantity. Above all, the good thing about this place is the employee. Thanks to the female employee who is kind, sweet, and smiles at me from ordering to payment, the late dinner alone became an unforgettable memory for me. If I come to Brighton again, I will revisit. Thank you for making good memories for me. Taste, service, and everything are perfect!

First trip here, recommended from the Time-Out website. Atmosphere and Service were great, although there was some confusion over the menu, the cod was a lovely thick piece and the chips were fried beautifully. Zero complaints, would certainly visit again if in the area.

When I say 'Do you fancy fish?' I'm really saying 'Shall we go to the Regency?', when I say 'Shall we go to The Level?', I'm really saying 'Grab the bongos and the Fire Poi'. When I say 'Fish and Chips?', I'm really saying 'Bardsleys?'. Over the years, I've sat inside and eaten from shiny plates, I've taken away wrapped up parcels to dish out at home, I've sat on a bench round the corner and eaten chips with a wooden fork poker thing. AND, (and I say this quietly, because to me it's an indication that they're not endlessly chasing those few extra quid to keep the lights on, the people that profit the mist financially understand that past a certain point, the more of that filthy lucre that comes in is not the equal of or same in worth to the extra time and effort required from you. Whoever runs the whole caboodle understands the whole work/life balance thing, so on the odd occasion I forget that you can't sit in at ten o'clock at night or the fryers are off and the windows are dark on an evening walk home, I tut selfishly for a second and walk on, not for a moment longer begrudging the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of their labour, passion, commitment and experience of any Bardsley, real or imagined, living or dead, family, friend or employee. Battered fish, grilled fish, even breaded fish one time I think. Consistently at the top of the game, not just at what they do, which they are, but how to do all that other stuff better too, which they do. And when I say "Well that's a big one. Ooh, Never seen one that big before! Looks tasty! Go on, give it a good battering, oh that reminds me of my Charlie, I've no idea why dear. Who dear? Me dear? Hide the sausage dear? Actually, put another one in there but don't wrap it up, that'll do me for the walk home" I'd better be standing at the Bardsleys counter. And if I'm not, well, then never you mind, a real old brass recognises real old class, though there's less of it around these days. That's what she said etc etc

Really tasty old school fish & chips. Warm friendly service for sit in at one of their chunky pine tables, or get it to go. The batter is thick and crispy, and the chips are nice and chunky.

Fantastic fish and chips, best I’ve had in a while and definitely the best in the city of Brighton. The batter is nice, flakey, and crispy and the fish is super fresh - you can see the chef cutting each piece fresh before cooking and frying. The ladies serving here are absolutely sweethearts and you can definitely feel the hospitality when you go for a visit.
