Gars is the best Chinese restaurant...without question. The food is top quality and the staff are brilliant, we are always made to feel welcome and they are never to busy for a chat. I can't recommend this restaurant enough...5 star all the way.
I've eaten at GARS manynt New and have never been served anything other than 1st class food and the staff are excellent at looking at after their customers.

Started dating a guy couple of weeks before this and previously had a running joke we’d tried and failed to have a Chinese meal the few short times we get to meet up.
My bf booked this for us as a little surprise and turned out to be a fabulous experience.
The gentleman server (quite possibly an owner and/or manager) was friendly and a delight to deal with throughout and the food was top notch.
Starters arrived promptly and boiling hot. Both the pork dumplings and the salt, pepper and chilli king prawns were well presented and tasty.
Followed up by crispy duck which again was well presented and delicious.
I had chicken with ginger and spring onion and my bf had Cantonese duck. Steamed and egg fried rice between us too. Again well presented and delicious food. Not a single complaint and I tried both mains.
And although he insisted on paying I don’t recall it being stupidly priced either considering he had some Prosecco and I had a couple of cokes.
Tasty food. Well presented. Helpful friendly staff. Highly recommended. No wonder this place has been serving Brighton since 1983.
As this was our first official date as a couple we might have to make at least annual if not more regular visits.
First time here and will absolutely come again. I will be bringing the whole family here! Best service I have had anywhere I. Brighton. Cannot thank the staff enough for their professionalism. Oh and of course the food was to die for!

Made a last minute reservation for 8 and was not disappointed, Sasha our host was amazing and all staff were polite and happy to help. The food was incredible and the best I have eaten in years, we all walked out smiling with full bellys and would definitely eat here again!
Great service absolutely, very welcoming staff, and willing to customize the dishes to fit my old grammy needs. Although food is not 100% traditional Chinese, abit on contemporary side, but the taste is good too.
Have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the meal in Gars. I had a 3 course meal, with a couple of well paired glasses of wine. The Kung Po Chicken was exceptional. Considering the quality, the price is reasonable. Ideal for those who want a romantic night out. There was also plenty of room for bigger groups.
Maia was an outstanding hostess. Spoke through the menu and made great wine suggestions!

Gars is an upmarket Chinese restaurant with a great range of pan-asian dishes available. We went as a table of two on a Friday and it did get busy/noisy near the end but otherwise food and service were top notch. We decided on one of the set menus, which we found mostly excellent, with the pork belly being just ok. The first course platter was a flavour and visual feast with scallops, king prawns, chicken satay and squid. Next up crispy duck pancakes, which I always find fun to build, the duck was super crisp and tasty. We were quite stuffed by the 3rd course, but had to polish off the kung po prawns as they had amazing flavour. All round a great experience.
Went to Gars on 22nd July. We did not have any bookings so did a walk in.
The staffs were very friendly and nice. The food was great. We enjoyed every dish we ordered. Ryan who took care of our table especially was very friendly and nice.
We’ll visit again when we are Brighton.
Lovely little Chinese restaurant in the lanes . Prettily laid out. Good menu. We had fabulous prawn toasts 4xs normal thickness! Spring rolls and crispy seaweed to start. Sweet and sour Pork delicious, Beef in black bean sauce, Chicken Satay. Egg fried rice and Pak choi. All was lovely. Will.go again.
