I used to drink here, semi-regularly some years back (OK longer than that, make me feel old) and it was a great pub, full of character and characters with a warm welcome and always someone to talk to.
After a recent visit, it is a shame to say that today, it is a sad shadow of its past glories. Poor staff, badly maintained beer and a clientele that makes you feel more on edge than an Olympic figure skater.
A pub with as much potential as this deserves far better than the current crowd are giving it, mores the pity.
Until a change in ownership occurs, highest rating I can give this grief hole is: AVOID.

I have lived in this road for 10years. The Rock Inn is my favourite place in Brighton. The staff are just lovely and the food is great, not to mention the locals. They have a great outdoor garden.
The Sunday lunches and mushroom nut roast is the best ive had.
The curry is fab and now there is African menu too. I cant wait to try the food!!!

It's a lovely British pub, really good to mix with local people, have a drink and play pool. You can go everywhere else but, if you go to the Mad Hatter you will have a real British experience.

I've always enjoyed my time here. It's a nice pub, a good beer garden, and games room upstairs and a private bar downstairs if you wish. It has a good community vibe going on here.
