Some of the reviews on the internet are pretty unfair for this place. It's not exactly Harry Ramden but the fish and chips are as good as, that's all that matters. You get a little more than what you pay for and that's why I like this place. I go there for the food and nothing more. It is a good honest little business that is trying to please people who expect too much from so little. Apparently owned by a uni student - good on him.
i often pop in when in the area ,great chips and the fish always has crispy batter ,the main man love to have a chat and must do 100 hours a week as he s never out of the place , as to the decor it might be plain or boring but behind the counter is always spotless
Amazed that we could have fish and chips delivered to the caravan site. Good quality fish, batter nice and light. Good size portions. Good price
Living at the far end of Brighton there isn't much other than the Milton Keynesesque Marina, (and admittedly some very nice little places on the way into town), but little in the way of fish and chips, at least that I could find. So it was with low expectation that I found a couple of varying reviews for P4F and thought it was worth a go. And for a fiver, it certainly was.
Don't be put off by the minimalist decor, somewhere between waiting room and school canteen, the haddock & chips were crispy and as tasty as you'd ever want. So while they're not going to win any awards for atmosphere, decor or friendly attention, they should do well for a good honest takeaway at this end of town.
We'll be going back.
We stumbled across this place (don't be put off by the exterior) and we were completely delighted! The fish was beautifully fried - crispy golden batter. The chips were perfect, proper chippy style. Traditional fish and chips at its best. Generous portions and the service was great. Will definitely be back again.
So I've recently taken up a hobby as a food writer/blogger just because it gives me something to do on the weekends. I thought I'd try out this place after having a chit chat with one of the two brothers who own it (young, enthusiastic and ambitious boys) who I met whilst he were out leafleting.
I ordered a great deal of food because I took the day off from cooking and have a big family with a big appetite.
We got the whole grilled chicken which was succulent and well cooked through-out. Packed full off flavour and colour - made my mouth water carrying it back to the car. The smell of it was to die for!!!
Also ordered a medium's size pizza for the kids to snack on in the car, which was beautiful. It wasn't dry, wasn't too hard and wasn't too soft. Cooked to perfection with generous toppings.
Hubby ordered the Cod n Chips which I was told they do the best, so, put it to the test. Can't say a bad thing about it. Crispy and golden batter, great size fish and generous portion of chips.
