We like Stonehouse pubs and this one was lovely. A great play area for children outside the pub, and a lovely outside sitting area for the parents. Inside was very welcoming. The food was good too. Especially with a 50% offer!
Had a lovely meal here the other day. We also had the carvery a few weeks ago which was good overall, just the veg we weren’t happy with as we felt they were overcooked and everything tasted the same. Whether you had cauliflower cheese or carrots, all tasted samey and bland.
However, we ordered a pizza, a calzone and a burger the other day and it was all very delicious. Actually, the Philly cheese steak pizza was super tasty, perfectly cooked and yummy.
Staff was very friendly and served us quite quick. The daily deals on the app are very good.

I often visit the saltdean tavern they offer a great range on their menu. Good for all the family and there is something for everyone. Service is always quick with polite service. I’ve never had a bad experience here. On my last visit I asked who the chef was so I could leave a good review, her name was Sandra. Really recommend

Found this pub whilst away for a few days. Good menu with a 2 course or 3 course deal. We received the starters very quickly. However, we were still waiting 35 minutes later for the main. When we went to check, the slip with our order had been binned, so our main was forgotten. When we did receive the food, it was nice, but the burger was a bit greasy.
I celebrated my birthday with friends (total 20) at the Carvery on 21/8/23 followed by cake and bubbly. It was a fine day and service was good. My friends who mostly come from the Brighton area enjoyed the ambience and service promised to return. We thoroughly recommend the Saltdean Tavern! Made my day - Joanna

The food was long to arrive , we waited 30 minutes .
I asked where are food was .
My friend said the fish was small, large portion but mainly batter.
My vegan pizza was under cooked ….l took over half home and re cooked it.
I am not in the habit of complaining ….l work in the NHS . Full time as a nurse

Service exceptional for our party of 21. Shani was excellent taking our order, getting cling film for our cake and helping our take a group picture and was very friendly nothing was too much trouble. Jasmine was extra helpful in bringing the cake out and getting plates for it. Top service today food was good a regular carvery.
A great place to go with friends on a Saturday night. Plenty of choice, good quality food and drink, and inexpensive too - what’s not to like?! What makes it special, though, is the cheerful, friendly staff. They were incredibly busy (short-staffed maybe?) which I guess is why the same person (Shani) greeted us, found us s table. served us at the bar, served our friends at the Carvery and brought our meals to our table - and never stopped smiling! Service like that really makes s difference. We’re going back next week.
