Good burgers at okay prices.
Best bits: large menu, lots of choice. Potato wedges are good, chips are mediocre. Tasty milkshakes.
Worst bits: beef burgers can taste a little overdone sometimes, veggie ones not always great either. The mid-twenties female staff who work there always appear to be dreadfully high on something, emotionless and generally not particularly pleasant.
If you really do want a Grubbs burger, take a short walk to the one on York Place.
Edit: since I first wrote my review, I think the food has improved, hence an extra star. Service seems better than before too.
The burger is one of the best I've ever had. There's such a great vegetarian selection and variety of burgers for a really cheap price. The staff weren't the most polite, but that's understandable on a rainy miserable day in Lewes Rd., and they didn't do anything rude, just a small bit dismissive even when the shop was empty. Will definitely be back!
Best burgers in Brighton and arguably in the country, in my humble opinion, a fantastic selection of beef and vegetarian burgers (homemade by Grubbs) with a wide variety of flavours. Excellent value for money and they're open late. Love it!
Very consistent burger joint with the added bonus of being part of Brighton's history. It's not the fastest or the cheapest, but you're guaranteed a great burger every time. Never had a bad one.
The burgers are so tasty they offer so many different options, the fries are too die for and don't even get me started on their milkshakes and brownies I just hope they open up again soon.
