Chatz Fish N' Chips

"Fresh Local Fish & Chips!!" I tried this place one evening and was blown away how good it is! I was greeted by a big smile from the owner and his wife who are absolute legends and it was very refreshing. Family owned fish n chips are the best! The food was extremely tasty and was served up fast. Prices are really reasonable for a area. They have a good variety of packs to choose from. There is easy parking nearby also and you can get there by train. The beach is a short drive down Martin st so its extremely convenient. I will definitely be returning to this place and will highly recommend it to others.

If the Michelin guide inspectors came to Australia, this place would receive a star! If you love quality at an incredible price point, without frills, this is the place. Let the Chef recommend how to best cook, whether grilled or fried - it depends on the produce. Have the prawns deep fried! They explode with a "pop" and simply melt. That textural dance of both firm and soft only perfectly cooked prawns can do. Chatz Chips are perfect. Perfect temperature, size, colour, seasoning & freshness. The restaurant & hospitality industry should absolutely celebrate Chatz in Brighton... I'm surprised there aren't queues around the corner on a Sunday lunch with that Saturday night party crowd from the southside of Melbourne nursing hangovers. Bookings not required. Simply walk in. Try everything. Chat to the Chef owner, he is like the Ronnie di Stasio for hot chips. Brilliant chat, candour and sincerity. Nevermind the decor. Who actually cares when the food & service are this good. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Location is everything, actually not necessarily, but in this case Chatz is right there on Martin St next door to the entry to Gardenvale train station! If that's not enough, Chatz is really a quality fish & chip shop, even offering fresh fish for cooking at home. We can only hope, by maintaining our custom there, that this shop keeps going for a long time to come.
