If you are looking for delicious food at a reasonable price this has to be one of the best spots in Brighton. The Durban-style curries are full of flavour and will leave you wanting more. The owner, Greg, is always friendly and welcoming.

Like the food esp. Biltong and pumpkin fritters. The lamb curry was not my favorite as the meat now great cut. That said really great service and welcoming atmosphere.

Our Monday early dinner at African Chow was great. The Durban curries were very good and I just loved my lamb bunny chow. Having worked in Durban SA for a few years it felt I was back there. Plus having the SA beers helped.

These guys totally nail the big flavour accessible prices brief in my book. Was so happy to come and try the South African Durban streetfood and the all-famous pumpkin fritters (totally worth the hype). They had two vegan curries - one sweet potato based the other (my fave) was puffed tofu mushroom and spinach and it was SO GOOD. Add to that the buttery soft fresh roti and banging Mrs Balls hot chutney and the flavours were 🔥. You can choose to have it with rice chips or bunny chow style in literally a loaf of bread 🍞! You can choose your heat level and I was glad we went wimpy with mild as it was just right. I love how you can mix and match and add on to your hearts content plus a big bowl of curry is only £9 😱. But trust me maybe order about 5 Roti as you’ll love them. And definitely get extra pumpkin fritters as dessert or their palate cleansing mango sorbet. Really nice vibe, awesome chilled service with an order at the till approach which I’m always fine with. Plus they had great music and do live music nights too. If you’ve never found it it’s opposite the Sainsburys behind the station. And is definitely worth a visit next time you need a big flavour feast or fancy discovering some of Durban’s classics

Midweek lunchtime isn't a fair reflection on the weekend evenings as they're rarely the same. As a first time visitor, it's a nice casual space to fit a dozen or so inside. Floor to ceiling windows mean plenty of light in the airy space. The small outside area adds more tables and in nice weather the open patio would be ideal. Initially disappointed with the presentation and portion size but actually, having finished what was an unplanned casual lunch, realised that they were right and I wasn't. I'm not sure what makes the difference between an African and say, an Indian curry, but this was very tasty, and packed with flavour. Lots of chicken, not too much sauce, and nice and spicy, just right for a curry rice bowl or as I did, over a base of French fries as my choice of starch base. I'd recommend the medium level of heat, which I enjoyed but there wasn't a noticeable difference between the mild and medium, my companion and another diner both thought the mild was a bit spiky, and I agreed but a nice dollop of the branded chutney did just the right job. All in all, it's great for a quick lunch and maybe a nice spot for an early evening beer. Reminded me of the relaxed vibe from an old Backpackers hostel presented in a professional and modern glass walled eatery. Cool, calm and worth your time to visit. Will be back to try the other menu items, as I'm sure, will you.

We eat out a lot, all different cuisines. So glad we discovered this place. Absolutely wonderful curries, cooked perfectly, the meat was melt in your mouth. Delicious pumpkin fritters with just the right sweetness & cinnamon spice. Prices incredible value and the loveliest staff who really know h their stuff. Our new favourite restaurant by far.

our office went for food and all in all was enjoyable. We had the Chicken Thigh Durban Currey with Garlic Bread. We felt that the curry was incredibly nice great flavours and had the onion chutney sauce. The only thing we would say is when we run out of onion chutney it tasted a little bit bland due to the sweetness of the sauce, however this is not a complaint at all its a observation. But when that chutney is mixed in, its actually unreal! We also think that the Garlic bread is an absolute must with the meal - it compliments it very well, we were concerned that the price of the whole meal for a lunch might be a little bit expensive and wouldn't be able to commit to having it weekly like we would with neighbouring food outlets but as a treat we would have it more often As a team we decided that if the curry cost £10.00 with the garlic bread we would be more inclined to go there more. All in all fantastic Service and a happy Customer!

A group of 6 of us went for lunch. Gregg the owner went over & above to make us comfortable on the terrace. I had the lamb curry (extra spicy) which was succulent & very tasty. Absolutely loved everything about this place. Friendly, smiley staff. Reasonably priced. I can't wait to go back ... 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I was treated to lunch today by my dear friend Jason who had been here a few times. The food is superb and the service outstanding with a myriad of condiments, sauces and a secret recipe pudding. Great value and apparently occasionally live music . We will be back Marc
