Little Big House

Went for dinner with some friends after work last night. Variety of choices for food was pretty limited according to the menu (for places of a similar size and type). Serving staff were polite, but the meal service was where the place was really let down. Of the five meals we ordered, only three arrived at the same time. The other two were forgotten about and eventually arrived (but only after one of our group went to enquire) and without any apology. By this time the first three meals had been consumed.

Perfectly named in my opinion. It really does have this little house feeling but also big in terms of what it has to offer. Recently l was invited to sample their winter menu at Little Big House. I found it to be quite different to a standard Queensland pub. Had a more up-scaled vibe to it and no wonder since it’s Matt Moran’s third Brisbane venue and part of the Solotel Group. The food itself was amazing. I was so impressed by the variety but what really got my interest was the Chicken Parmi Spring Roll….mind blown. It was perfection on a plate and hats off to the chef who came up with it….genius!! The rest of the winter menu was very impressive from tacos to salmon to steak sandwich to cous cous salad and the list goes on and on. This beautiful venue seriously had it all. Amazing heritage listed Queenslander house which btw was also a Police station, delicious food, weekly trivia and bingo and even a karaoke room!! Guaranteed to be a good night.

Little Big House is BACK! Brett Fitzpatrick has taken the reins of this great venue and even in its soft opening is giving it a great vibe backed by a delicious modern Queensland pub menu by Chef Nick Stapleton, great tap beer and local craft tin selection and neat wine list, and plenty of verandah, balcony, bar, and private room spaces for whatever you fancy. Get back here Brisbane. This place is a Queensland classic for locals and city visitors alike.

My partner and I spotted the rooftop bar when exploring Grey St and were very pleasantly surprised by the sophisticated, professional, and engaging nature of Little Big House. I loved that the vegan and vegetarian meal options were seamlessly incorporated into the menu and that the duty manager (Dan) engaged us in conversation. Well done Little Big House, you have set a high standard for the dining experiences in South Bank. We'll be back next time we're in Brisbane.
