Great Sunday lunch for 7 of us and our dog! Everything was well cooked and, omg, the portions were huge! Great friendly service too despite being fully booked and busy!

It’s a good job I don’t live close bumpy as I’d be in every night if I was.
A G&T and a pint was £8:50.

The Sunday roast was fantastic. Our entire table thought it was the best we had ever had. The beef was tender and succulent. The swede mash and roasted root vegetables perfectly done with a great variety of colours of carrots and parsnips. The Yorkshire pudding was huge and light and crisp.
Another highlight was the superb complementary cauliflower cheese brought to the table which had the genius addition of leeks and a bit of something else delicious.

Banging burgers, great local beers, super beer garden. There was a mix up with our food order, but was dealt with expertly and professionally. Will happily visit again

It's the staff that did it for me. Also super fun pub quiz. But staff are all kind, good listeners & fun people

The Hope and Anchor has a new landlord, they have made a great start in making this a great pub, it's no longer focused on the student market place, it's moving towards becoming a local for everyone including students.
Updated June 23.
It contains to improve, it's dog friendly has been repainted and the garden developed, it's feel like a good happy pub for all.
Well done to the new owners
