I love the food here. The restaurant has the best fresh raw fish. Excellent value for money. Authentic Japanese food. It’s a must try!
You won’t be disappointed, if you love sea food

Unexpectedly good.
Tempura not looking like traditional japanese tempura.
The only place for star deduction for the music which is not J-Pop.

We had a private room with karaoke for 12 people on Saturday evening and we had a fantastic time.
The food was great, good menu, good portions and well priced.
The staff were amazing and super welcoming.
The karaoke machine was a little confusing to work and the catalogue could be better but overall a fantastic time!.

Good Japanese food - sushi, noodles and rice dishes! Really friendly staff too. Great place to go at the start (or during) a night out!

I came here for my girlfriend's birthday. She's very much more into Japanese cuisine than I am and it was my first time trying sushi!
The experience was great, we both had a lot of fun and loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. It was very quiet on the Sunday that we came but had a really nice ambience to it.
The service was good, and the staff were polite and friendly. There was a mistake made with our food but it was quickly resolved.
The food was also good, with my wok fried noodle dish being very tasty. My partner and I shared nigiri which was adequate although the egg and rice was quite moist and had a peculiar taste.
I recommend this spot if wanting to try Japanese cuisine.

I loved this restaurant. A decent selection of Japanese and Chinese dishes. The fried ebi bento I had was just yummy. The service charge is waived if you pay in cash.

I booked one of the karaoke rooms in this restaurant for my birthday, and had such a great experience! The food was delicious and the staff were extremely helpful. 12 of us fit comfortably in the room and everyone had a fun time.

We organised a karaoke party for a group of 12 year old girls on Sunday afternoon 3 July and they absolutely loved it. It was the only place in town that did karaoke for kids and families.
Our host Ivy made the karaoke room warm and inviting and for the girls it felt really authentic and special. There was plenty of food and drinks included in the price and all of it was delicious. The girls enjoyed singing their favourite songs, eating together and being looked after so well by Ivy and her team.
Whilst the girls enjoyed their space we parents sat downstairs and enjoyed a tasty set menu box. I had the Gyosa with skewered veg and my husband the tempora which was hot and tasty.
The cost per head for the party was good value for money and was very relaxed. Yes there was a 10% service charge which is pretty common now, and we were happy to pay it because we'd received such care and attention to everything.
I'd recommend Obento for family, kids, parties - it's a really fun way to share an experience together with good company and super tasty food.
Thank you to everyone at Obento for making our party so amazing, the girls were raving about it !!!!!
I've included a pic of the set up, this was before I added some party banners, balloons. There is a sunken table lit from beneath which looks great😊

Obento was the first Japanese restaurant that I ever ate in, 15 years ago. Upon returning to Bristol I was hesitant to return, based on a few negative reviews. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised when I came for a friend’s party in one of the upstairs karaoke rooms.
The staff were professional and attentive, and the food that I had – una don (grilled eel rice), mango fry roll (deep fried fish sushi roll wrapped with mango) and miso soup – was good. Not sure how authentic the mango sushi is but it was still tasty; the unagi was cooked well and had the correct flavour, and the soup hit the spot. The karaoke room was great value – £150 for 3 hours of karaoke and £150 worth of food and drink. So if you spend £150 on food and drink then basically you get the karaoke for free. You could easily fit 10 people in that room, making it very reasonably priced. We had a great time there and I’d love to return for more karaoke and food.
