Nice service, nice food, tho the beef Wellington is more of a stewing steak than a fillet (which it states to be fair) it was presented well and had nice flavours. Would eat here again. Fish & chips is highly recommended.
Good welcome,unusual to see food in a basket,very 70s 80s,but have to say it was excellent. Dog was made very welcome,the building is lovely, old@worldy interior, lots of nooks @ crannies.would love to return.

The Fish and Onion Rings Batter is amazing - nice and crunchy while the fish was perfectly cooked. Also the Dirty Fries and Onion Soup - highly recommended.

Highly recommended Sunday roast! First timers here and we came on recommendation. It's obvious why! The pub was packed out and still they kept on coming. That did not stop service being a top priority. We didn't book, cos that's just how we roll, and despite the pub being packed out we asked if we could eat in the covered outside area, which was accommodated without issue. Despite apologies for the wait from the attentive, polite and well trained staff I wouldn't consider it a wait at all. The outside area was spaciously separated and would be cool enough in summer and despite a crazy downpour was plenty warm enough for us, with patio heaters available around the area should they be required. We will definitely be returning to sample some weekday lunchtime offerings and maybe a cheeky date night treat. Beautiful historic pub, just as we like them.
Went for a meal with my partner to celebrate my birthday and our engagement. The staff at the tavern went above and beyond and added a few touches to make our experience perfect. The food was fantastic. Would recommend to anyone. We will be back. Thank you
Quite simply the most impressive pub experience I have had for years. The food is nothing short of superb, clearly prepared with care, imagination and real talent and the chefs obviously pride themselves in sourcing quality local produce. The staff are attentive and so friendly. Give them a try - you will not be disappointed. This has restored my faith in pubs!
For the record, we had chicken burger (amazing) and feta, onion and sun-dried tomato tart with chips (also top quality) plus home made ice cream (choc and orange marmalade (winner!!).
Excellent food served well and hot. Had starters which though delicious we didn't really need. We had char sui pork, pate & Feta tart. All delicious. The Sunday lunches were amazing. Giant Yorkies, delicious cauliflower cheese & excellent roast beef. I couldn't finish it! Next time I won't have the starter!
