Bruton Town Council was lucky enough to have its annual Christmas meal/get together at On the Brook. What can I say? Absolutely first class food, first class service, first class venue; I cannot recommend this venue highly enough. Thank you to Sophie, Simon ( the Chef) and Cian for an absolutely fantastic evening.

The fact that my husband and I popped in for coffee then decided to have lunch and left over two hours later speaks for itself. Sophie and Pat are delightful and On the Brook is a little gem. Go for the short walk through the wood before returning to the cafe/restaurant for coffee and cake, lunch or afternoon tea. It’s not a slick, impersonal operation but very much their home with Sophie spending a lot of time in the kitchen and front of house and Pat being kept busy producing wonderful fruit and veg which can be on your plate hours after being picked. The old farm is having a real facelift and the accommodation to let is of high quality, I particularly like the latest small barn conversion which is still ‘work in progress’ but has a charming mezzanine sleeping area. Bruton has several good places to eat but On the Brook is unique, sitting in a charming little valley, beside a rippling brook and with a superb view. Give it a try.

Such a lovely setting to have lunch. We had a tapas for 2 which included lots of delicious dishes, 2 soft drinks and the best coffee we've had in ages, all for £12! Excellent value. The service was a little chaotic on the day we visited, not sure if they were short of staff but we still lived it.

A fabulous place to stay in Bruton- you feel as though you are in the deep countryside, but you can easily walk in to town in 15 minutes. The absolute best of both worlds! Really charming and comfortable accommodation with lovely views of the surrounding hills.Generous breakfast at the on-site cafe is included, making life incredibly easy and convenient. Sophie and Pat were so helpful with tips for what to do during our stay in the area, and were great hosts. My friends and I had a wonderful stay.

A beautiful location, quiet with amazing views, just a short walk into town for easy access to Bruton’s shops and restaurants. Accommodation is simple but high quality with good bathroom facilities (strong shower), practical kitchen corner and excellent WiFi. Very warm welcome for our dog. Friendly hosts and delicious breakfast menu.

Great experience. Sophie, the host, makes us want to stay On The Brook for ever. Beautiful, spacious room for three (even for four), with a kitchen with all you need. Beautifully surrounded by nature and quiet as it can be. The breakfast had plenty options and a very high quality. All were facilities. We also walked through the woods to get to town in about only 10 minutes. We promised to go back

Outstanding place to stay and eat. Sophie and her partner are wonderful and really did take good care of me. Nothing was a problem. On the Brook has two beautifully restored barns in lovely countryside. The food is great, and the couple do a great deal for the local community in terms of husbandry of their land and the copse of woods which they are reviving. People walk for miles with their dogs to have coffee and lunch in the restaurant which uses local produce. There is a great deal to do in the immediate neighbourhood, including the Hauser Wirth Gallery. Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved our stay in the barn at One the Brook - it's the most beautiful location, just a short stroll from Bruton and surrounded by idillic Somerset countryside. The menu at the farm's cafe is so well considered and I can vouch that breakfast, lunch and the Friday night Malaysian are all absolutely delicious. The barn itself is gorgeous - amazing views through huge floor to ceiling windows - the perfect mix of high-spec, cozy and rustic, with lots of really lovely touches. Sophie was so welcoming and accommodating - we were offered lifts from the station, given lots of local tips and even a few slices of homemade cake. It was all very dreamy.

Best coffee I've ever had. Period. Amazing crepes. Lovely place to eat surrounded by rolling hills. Food is great offering daily specials so you can try something new. Also a few local walks so excellent choice for either long walks with food and drinks to finish off with or just a nice coffee break.

We booked to stay at Coombe Farm over the Easter Holiday weekend hoping for a country escape that would enable us to relax and unwind for a few days and we were definitely not disappointed. Sophie and Pat were so welcoming and friendly and did all they could to make our stay easy and enjoyable. The location was perfect, only a short woodland walk to the nearby small town of Bruton yet just far enough away to enable us to feel that we were in the middle of the countryside. The nights were perfectly quiet (with the exception of the odd owl hoot here and there) and the evenings were full of the sounds of pheasants and sheep and the babbling stream that runs through the farm. Ash Barn itself is a beautifully appointed, clean, spacious, light and airy building with a contemporary feel and was perfect for the two of us. It was comfortable and cosy and finished to a very high standard. WiFi and broadband speed was excellent, which still seems to be a rarity for farm locations. There is a little kitchen area which was ideal for cooking on the occasion that we didn‘t walk into Bruton for a meal. Breakfast, cooked to order in the charming restaurant on the farm, was incredible and was the perfect start to the day. Sophie‘s poached egg on toast with corn and celeriac sauce was delicious and with the added mushrooms, beans and morcilla black pudding this breakfast really needs to be tried to be believed. We told Sophie that she might just have ruined all future breakfasts for us at other restaurants! Thank you Sophie and Pat for a lovely weekend stay, we will be back!
