This was my first visit to The Plough and I'm hoping it won't be my last. We'd pre-booked a table for early evening and were promptly guided to our table on arrival. The place is huge so I was initially worried about how long we'd probably have to wait. But no worries, every member of staff was extremely helpful, cheerful and nothing too much trouble. They'd obviously had a very busy Sunday lunch service during the afternoon as they'd run out of a couple of the extra side dishes. This was explained before we ordered but wasn't an issue for us as our party of four already knew what we wanted to order. Drinks were ordered and arrived promptly, our four roast beef courses also ordered. Speed of service was very efficient but at no time were we rushed. The star of the show was the food. Roast beef, a huge Yorkshire pudding, creamed leeks and peas, red cabbage, carrots, parsnips, perfect roast potatoes and a delicious dark meaty gravy. The beef was perfectly cooked and fell apart in your mouth. Portion sizes were very generous. I was further shocked to find that the meal cost just £10 each! The standard of service was excellent as was the food itself. Apparently they had been non stop since they opened but you'd never have known. The staff were as professional and as courteous as if they had just opened. This was by far one of the best pub Sunday lunches I've had.

Nice place to grab a pub lunch or later dinner. I find the food can be hit and miss. I've had some lovely food but other times not so great. I would avoid the steak. Service can be slow but the last time I went the waitress was excellent- best service in a long time.

We had a birthday party of 10 across 4 generations and everyone enjoyed their food. Staff were very attentive and the food was good. The Sunday roast was excellent and popular too. We'll be back in the summer to enjoy the really good children's play area with loads of outside seating.

Had an evening meal. Two very rare steaks. The chef had them out of the fridge to ambient temperature, then chargrilled. Fabulous. One had tarragon butter, the other had rosemary butter. The serving staff were very knowledgeable. Great experience.

Very nice atmosphere with log fires. Good food and a good selection of beers.

Warm and welcoming, very polite and helpful staff. Food was lovely. Will definitely be back.

Very warm welcome as soon as we walked in , I dont know who was waiting our table but he was absolutely brilliant with my 3 year old. An absolute credit to the hall and woodhouse team he was outstanding ( dark hair black tshirt white jeans on Saturday 23rd). Food was amazing and didn't have to wait long at all little loved the fish n chips hubby said the tangle foot pie was outstanding.
