What a fantastic pub in more ways than one. The pub itself is lovely and cosy and it was like we had known the staff for years; so friendly and accommodating. My husband is vegan and I'm a pescatarian so we often find it difficult to find somewhere which can accommodate both our needs and when we do most of the time we are disappointed. But not here! There wasn't a vegan starter but the staff went out of their way to create one and in my husband's words " It was the best starter I've ever had; I'd put that permanently on the menu" which I believe they will be doing (The bean dish/Cassoulet). We then both had a dish taken from the main menu and both were very tasty. We left after the meal and then returned with another couple and stayed until quite late; we were the only people in the pub but were made to feel we could stay as long as we wanted to do, there was no "we are closing up now, can you leave?". Thank you to everyone who works at the pub.
What a lovely pub, if anybody is near the area that's the one to check out, food is to die for and the staff are very friendly, had a week up there you could never get me out of the place, and it is dog friendly they have water and treats for the dogs, thank you so much for a great time Jan and Pete and Tia the dog x

Had great time great meal and drink. Very friendly staff. A few of us went there and tried a few dishes and they were all fantastic especially the fish pie. The staff told us about the area and suggested were to go. They recommended really good places. One of the places is the Greta Wood and river which we found interesting when we went for a walk the following day. Last you have to book if you want to enjoy a good meal drink and time. We have booked and we would find place if we hadn't
First class traditional pud with a great friendly atmosphere.
Had a great meal there on our first night in the village, we went back for drinks on our last night. This a fantastic local pub who made us very welcome, if you are in the area I would definitely recommend this place!
Absolutely tremendous pub, can't recommend it highly enough! We stayed in Burton for New Year and, having stopped in for a drink the day before, we ended up here on NYE. Wonderful atmosphere and really lovely staff and owners, who couldn't have been more welcoming. Nice pub, great beer, fantastic staff... food looked really good too!
Dogs also welcome... they got biscuits and lots of attention! Thankyou for a great night!!
AMAZING! Hands down the best meal we had in the Lake District. More than happy to adapt dishes for intolerances. Very well priced, lovely atomosphere. Will be returning.
Stopped off after seeing signs from road for a family lunch and great Google reviews. They couldn't have been more helpful. Really warm and friendly. My wife has a gluten allergy and the staff took time to go through everything and offered loads of options. Food was great too when it came. Will definitely go here again when passing.
Called in our way past as we were hungry and looking for something to eat on our journey home from Richmond via Hawes and Ingleton to Wigan.
Very friendly and attentive staff and good food too. We'd only found it due to a sign on the main road as its a little out of the way pleased we did. Enjoyed it and would go again if we're in the area.
This pub is in my opinion the best in the area. The food is excellent and the staff are so friendly and accommodating. Fab beer garden at the rear for hot summer days and an open fire for cold winter nights. Couldn't wish for more.
Lovely village pub. We were the only customers as it was quite early, but we had a great welcome and a very pleasant drink and chat with the barmaid who was very helpful in pointing us in the right direction. Highly recommended and we will be back.
Warm welcome, friendly staff.
Dog brought a water bowl and dog biscuits.
