Brilliant! Food & service just fabulous. Having lived for many years in the US I sorely miss decent Tex-Mex food & Amigos offers by far the best I’ve found since returning home to the UK 7 years ago. Not pretentious, just good honest flavorful great quality Tex-Mex food & beverage. The staff were great, the owner a genuine nice guy. Wish we lived close enough to frequent Amigos but we’ll be back anyway. Highly recommend.

It has been called the country's best Mexican restaurant - and I have to agree. I've eaten a fair bit of Mexican food in (and out of) the UK, and this is the best of our offerings I've had to date.
Now you've got your headline, why?
We dropped in on the way back from GoApe! in Brandon feeling understandably tired and hungry. Sparkling service from a really fun waiter, huge portions (it's not often I can't clear my plate), delicious food and great value were what we got. Jarritos on the menu is always a good sign. I'm just sad I couldn't stay for dessert, as both the horchata and churros looked excellent over on the next table!
As an added point, the loos were spotless as well.
We nearly assumed it was closed from the unassuming front, but that had the added advantage of meaning it was not horrendously busy at lunchtime either and service was very quick. Make sure to try the door before concluding it isn't open!
If we're back in Bury again, we are looking forward to a return visit. Thanks Amigos!

Overallall a decent place if you're wanting "scratch that itch" for a bit of Mexican fare. Itsa solic experience for what you can get in the UK.
We came here for a late lunch/early dinner and was seated immediately with no booking. The staff was friendly and attentice as the restaurant filled as we got closer to dinner time. Food overall was decent, nothing was exceptionally a standout, and I found the chips to be like most here, too thick (but I figured they might be).
The restaurant itself is a unique setting and has lots of character and charm but is not accessible regarding mobility issues (there are some serious stairs to get to the dining room upstairs). Don't be alarmed if you enter and think they're closed, thats just the receptions area. If you don't see anyone just head upstairs. I will say its the best margarita we have had here so far.

First time visit to this absolutely delightful restaurant in Bury. Heard many good things and it exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere was amazing. The music was the right level, and by the amount of people you could tell it was popular.
The service from the staff was great. Despite being 3 staff short they made sure everyone was seen in good time and seated and food served in a timely manner. One thing would be communication, we waited to be seated a while which was fine, it was busy. But 3 members of staff asked us the same question 3 times..
Food was delicious, and although it seems pricey, it was worth every single penny!
A great night. And will definitely return.

I was seated as soon as I got in despite being 15 minutes early for my reservation.
Had to grab the menus from the table next to me as mine has none but my order was taken quickly.
The Piña colada was really good and didn't last long, nacho's had plenty of toppings and the burrito was massive, I couldn't finish it all.
The staff are friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend

This is hands down the best Mexican food (and best service) we have had in a very long time. The pork tacos were amazing and the kids menu was great too. My husband had a chimichanga which was also perfect. Our waiter James was brilliant, really attentive, kind and engaged our little girl. We'll definitely be back :)

Great food and atmosphere made better by an incredibly friendly and attentive service from our server Ray, she was great at looking after us!

Can't recommend highly enough...We've returned tonight to a personal favourite...if you want to experience amazing Mexican authentic flavours, warm and welcoming staff, fab atmosphere and vibes, then Amigos is for you.
Staff are super cheerful and friendly.
Highly recommend everything🤩. Generous portions so make sure you don't over eat the great nachos, if you opt for them as starters, because you will want room for dessert! Tonight we opted for the churros and chocolate sauce, and the fried ice cream with dulce de leche... If you've never had fried ice cream before, you don't know what you're missing! 🥰
Book to avoid disappointment! We were very lucky tonight and, although we booked last minute, they managed to fit us in as someone had cancelled... So it's always worth phoning to check.
Enjoy!

I've been in the UK for the past 11 months, and this is the tastiest dinner I've had since I moved here. Service was amazing, food was spectacular and the place is nice and cozy; with latin music 🥰
Pork taquitos, kids steak fajitas, dínga fajitas, pork carnita tacos and fried ice cream, delicioso 😋

Bravo!!! As a Latina I’m telling you my experience here, it was fantastic. So glad I followed my latino spicy intuition, lots of flavors, generous portions, fried rice and beans were cooked like only la abuela knows. Riquísima Horchata, service was kind and truly attentive. A must place to be blessed again with my Latino presence. 💃🏻🌮

We were a large group and the whole evening at Amigos was fantastic. Our servers were friendly and efficient, the food was delicious (portion sizes particularly worth noting!) And the value for money felt spot on. The atmosphere was lively and created a great ambience to enjoy. Thoroughly recommend!

Best place to eat in Bury St Edmunds. The food and portion sizes are great. The service is good and the atmosphere is lively and enjoyable.
Would recommend booking as it can get busy.
If you can go on a Tuesday night its even better value for money with their 2 for Taco deals.

Delicious food very fresh and homemade, generous portions and great staff and atmosphere!
Matt Wyldering
The food and service is great, but the music was so loud that the cutlery on our table was vibrating from the bass and to even communicate with the server required pointing at the menu and there was no way to talk to the other people dining. I had to resort to tapping out messages on my smartphone to talk to my husband

Probable one of the best Mexican joints in Suffolk. I mean, it's expensive but the portions are huge, especially the burrito. The day to go is Tuesdays, which is 2 for 1 on most everything on the food menu. Get a reservation if going on Tuesday. Cash and cards accepted. Buckets of beer (6) range from £20-£25.

We had our work Christmas meal here this year and I had never visited before. The decor was absolutely lovely and I wish I took some photos. A beautiful old building with High beamed ceilings decorated in fairy lights. The music was far too loud and on a short loop on songs, which was a little annoying and very difficult to hear the group I was with. But I can appreciate the atmosphere created had we been in a smaller group. The food was good, they catered very well to all allergies and preferences and all staff were knowledgeable. Food was as expected, mexican so filling and greasy, but the portions were absolutely huge! Good selection of drinks available and lovely bottled water.

Amazing food, hot and fresh and well worth the wait. Clean and cosy restaurant.
Very friendly and obliging waiting staff who couldn't be more helpful when it came to one of my friends dairy intolerance.
Large portions and definitely worth the money.
I recommended the chocolate fondant for pudding!
I have already recommended this place to a couple of people and will definitely come back

Was ok , very friendly staff but food was disappointing . To the point where one friend felt the need to complain about hers !

Booked in for a meal with a pal yesterday evening and was really glad I did. It's a refreshing change to the usual dining experience to have such a casual, laid back arrangement and the decor and atmosphere made the Mexican theme feel very authentic. Super friendly, endearing staff and enchiladas that had me praising the Lord Jesus for allowing me to be birthed. Cool place, will definitely visit again.

Great food and good service would definitely recommend without hesitation. Very lively atmosphere! Will definitely go again!

Had an absolutely brilliant night! The staff were attentive despite being so busy and they went above and beyond to make the evening great. The food was delicious! Had a bit of a wait for it but it was well worth waiting for. A fantastic night and will definitely go back.

An amazing meal this evening. 5* food and lovely staff. Couldn't fault anything. Would highly recommend. Staff were attentive friendly and helpful. Food was amazing so fresh and nothing was to much trouble. I'm looking forward to returning.

Best authentic Mexican food in a 100 mile radius. Staff is very friendly, great atmosphere, very delicious large proportioned food. They actually have refried beans with cheese and not the British beans you would usually get. They food has never disappointed, highly recommended!

You know what, as always the food was great, but for a Saturday night there were too few staff, especially at the end of the night when the owner just stood staring at everyone with her coat on and the poor waitress was so busy trying to do everything by herself, that we had to go and ask quite pointedly for our bill. If they had attended to their customers before spending so much time making drinks for the staff and 'friends' at the end of the night, then it wouldn't have been so bad....VERY unprofessional and being the boss doesn't mean you shouldn't jump in to help when it's needed either. Poorly done.

Really good atmosphere, friendly attentive staff - lovely food - highly recommend we will be back there .

It was a Friday evening, nice atmosphere as it was packed but the food was disappointing. I had prawn fajitas, I think it was £17 and I had to pay £2 extra for guacamole which should come as standard with fajitas. I also noticed that compared to the chicken fajitas that my friends ordered mine was definitely a smaller portion. The waitress was lovely but you need to work on the authenticity of your food.
