My grandfather was stationed in Bury St. Edmond during WWII. Came here to visit and found No 5 Angel Hill as a spot to eat breakfast. Everything was absolutely delicious, great staff, very warm and welcoming. Best breakfast I’ve had in England.

I've visited a few times with family and it is now one of our favourite places for coffee and cake. The team are friendly and attentive. It's also dog friendly. Highly recommended!

Got the “benny” or eggs Benedict with bacon. Was like £9.95 or something, was absolutely loaded with bacon like sheesh 😮‍💨, in a good way. Also got an iced latte which was as expected, deliciously refreshing on a rarely hot and sunny English day. It’s a pay and order at the till type of service which is great if you don’t like waiting for the server to come around with a card reader. Good atmosphere and staff!

We were in Bury St Edmunds for the weekend, our first morning we came here and it was so good that we decided to come back again the next morning! The food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the breakfast bagel or the eggs Benedict. The coffee was also very nice. The staff were great, so welcoming and attentive. Both morning we arrived shortly after opening, and it didn’t take long to get busy, clearly a local favourite and it’s understandable why!

Lovely little cafe right near Abbey Gardens in Bury St Edmunds. The cafe overlooking the Abbey entrance gives a nice view of the various foot traffic in and around the town. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the seating is functional if a bit basic. The food is excellent however and everything I have consumed here has been top notch. I have had the sweet chilli wrap which is lovely, with excellent breaded chicken and homemade relish. Also the scotch egg with coleslaw and relish is also lovely though needed a little seasoning. They do seem to run out of things quickly so perhaps go early. Also the hot chocolate and lady grey tea are also lovely.

Wow, what a great place for a break. I'd heard good things about No. 5 and found them all to be true. We were quickly seated with menus listing lots of lovely things and chose fresh scones & tea for two... but declined the clotted cream and its extra calories! Soon the huge teapot arrived, warm scones, butter, jam and milk. We drank and ate with a view and warmed inside this friendly venue; a venue deserving plenty of visitors to enjoy the effort they make in getting service just right. Thank you all, see you ASAP.

Excellent gluten free bacon roll with a really generous amount of well-cooked bacon. I was very surprised with how good the gluten free bread was as it had a very similar texture to regular bread. More sauce could have been added to the roll, but that's just personal preference.

Definitely my favourite place in Bury St Edmunds. Staff are really lovely. I usually have a coffee and croissant for breakfast for a great start to the day. Today I was there for lunch and had the salmon quiche with salad. Very delicious! Highly recommended.

We discovered No. 5 Angel Hill whilst on a mini break to Bury St Edmunds and selected 5 independent coffee shops to try whilst we were there. We ended up visiting No. 5 twice within 24 hours because it was so great. Four things stand out for me about this coffee shop. First thing is the quirky decor, a mixture of aviation furniture, mirrors and light colours all around. The second is the customer service, it’s exceptional and this was because we were served by Ryan and the owner (we think - tall guy with beard) who were both so friendly and very efficient. Third thing to stand out for us was the bacon pretzel bun bap. This was the best bacon sarnie I’ve ‘ever’ had. Last thing which made us go back again was the coffee of course, a winner with us both. They use beans from Freshpac roasters based in Ipswich. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend you put this place on your ‘to-do’ list if you are visiting Bury St Edmunds.

We enjoyed a brief morning stop into No 5 Angel Hill. Our food was delicious and the service was wonderful. I wanted to try all the pastries but was full from my main dish.
