Always a great time me and my wife love the food and the staff are great 👍🏻
Had a Monday afternoon lunch... delicious! The staff were very polite and friendly. Service with a smile always makes me feel happier.
Been here a few times and always had a good experience. The servers, though young, are fantastic well-presented, and professional. The manageress was clearly running an efficient and tight ship, and all very friendly and polite. The food is very high quality: our family have exceptionally high standards and have eaten in some of the best places in the country and continent, so we know our food and to impress my parents is an achievement. Maybe those saying it is bland should look at their diets - too much over processed food and sugar dulls your taste buds. And anyone complaining about portion/price on here doesn't understand portion sizes, or the costs involved in making and serving quality food, which is probably why The Clarence has sadly closed. If Bury wants nice things, you have to raise your standards and support the people providing those nice things!
Will inevitably return as it's the best place for eating out in the area.
Only called in for a quick drink. Very pleasant greeting and excellent service and very reasonable prices. Will definitely be returning to try the food. Very tranquil atmosphere.
Food here is really lovely. It is pub food, but more of a fancy style. The place is owned by Andrew nutter who is a well known chef in the area, so you know the quality of the place.
Family loves to go here for special meals out as a treat. Can set you back a few Bob, but it's worth a visit.
You can go for just drinks downstairs and it's open late then (don't go off the open hours on the Google listing)
Really nice food in an unpretentious atmosphere. Just as I like it.
The arancini starter was especially nice, but the slow cooked beef festherblade was also delicious and different from the usual steak.
Enjoyed a fabulous lunch here today. Food was spot on - smoked haddock main (specials menu) and battered fish and chips were beautifully cooked and presented and our desserts didn’t disappoint either. Very relaxed ambience and attentive friendly service. High standards all round. A lovely little weekend treat.
The food and service were superb. Nothing was too much trouble, staff were helpful and polite and the food was excellent. Highly recommend.
Called in whilst passing, the greeting was warm and friendly. We started with scollops and lamb shoulder. Everything tasted delicious the sauce and cauliflower with the scollops were beautiful. The lamb shoulder was so tender and tasty my husband said it should be a main dish. For our main dishes we ordered smoked haddock, toped with rarebit and the steak and ale pudding. I was really enjoying my smoked haddock and unfortunately the fish were two very sharpe bones, it really spoilt it for me, it's unforgivable and should not happen in a quality kitchen. I would never order fish from there again, but I would return because the flavours were so good, just stick to the meat next time. The staff did apologise and did seem sincere. The price was very reasonable for the quality of the ingredients £64.00 for two courses with drinks.
Delicious meals for meat, fish and veggie eaters. Stylish upstairs restaurant and smart pub dining below. Great atmosphere and busy, even on a Wednesday.
