Possibly the best Fish n Chips I have ever had. Their tartar sauce was also top notch. Will definitely be going back again for my next takeaway. 👍👌
Excellent restaurant standard fish and chips, once you try godfreys you'll wonder why you've been going anywhere else for your fish and chips! Lovely staff, wonderful atmosphere in the restaurant (when it's open), I can and will recommend to anyone!
Best fish and chips outside of Cornwall!
The fish is well portioned and cooked in a light crispy batter and is not too greasy when served; the chips are perfectly cooked crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside (I’m almost certain they twice cook the chips)
Don t bother buying condiments as their free homemade tartar sauce is simply perfect.
Now a very slight negative is the cost but on the other hand you pay for the quality.
You will not be disappointed!

Exceedingly tasty fish and chips, cooked fresh, different sizes of fish and chips which is most welcome so there is no waste, and with a delicious home made tartare sauce. Can't wait to visit my parents again soon so we can eat this again!
Popped in with the family for a take away and was not disappointed! They advertise their food as freshly prepared and you can totally taste that it is! Freshly cooked fish and chips which taste like how they should! Definitely the best I’ve had in a long while. Nice little touch was the pots of freshly made tartar sauce and everything was packed neatly and professionally
Best fish and chips South of The Magpie in Whitby. Haddock is brilliant, plaice is delicious and their chips are just divine.
Can't wait for their restaraunt to open again. Regular customer at least once a week. Well done.

This is honestly the best fish and chip shop I have ever been to and this is no exaggeration. It is spotlessly clean, the customer service is good, the food is freshly cooked to order and delicious, from their beautiful fish and crispy chips to their homemade tartar sauce I have never found fault with Godfreys. I do not eat fish and chips regularly and stopped buying it a few years ago as the quality wherever I went wasn't very good but since I've discovered Godfreys if I ever do want a treat this is my first choice! Their food containers are also all recyclable compostable paper and card which I have never seen anywhere else and is another positivein my book, this is a first rate chippy and well worth a visit.
First time customers of Godfrey's on Saturday for a birthday takeout and we'll be back! Amazing Fish and Chips - all four of us said it's the best we've ever had - portions were huge :) and the quality faultless :) Highly recommend!
Best fish and chips around and reasonable prices for the amount of food you get. A large cod is very big. The tartar sauce is also a favourite, it's the proper stuff. Always very busy on weekend evenings so plan ahead!
