Columbine Restaurant

Absolutely the best place I've eaten as someone who is lactose intolerant. Alternatives and substitutes were available for almost every item on the menu which meant I could eat the same as everyone else and didn't feel singled out. The food was incredible and the staff were really welcoming. We will definitely be back!

Surprise visit organised by my partner for my birthday. I was very very pleasantly surprised. Service you’d expect in the Ivy (the original one), intimately professional without being claustrophobic. Beautiful menu with inspired flavour pairings. Excellent wine. I opted for the specials which were worthy of any overly-hyped venue which doesn’t compete with the friendly atmosphere and service in this restaurant. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you.

It's a cosy intimate restaurant without being intrusive. One of our party has a severe nut allergy which was taken seriously and reassured at each course that the food was checked. The food was outstanding quality and generously sized. Service was very attentive and efficient. The price incredible value for the quality of the restaurant. We will always visit this restaurant when visiting Buxton.

What a lovely little place this is! Had a special anniversary meal here on Saturday. The welcome is warm and the service excellent. The menu is selective which ensures the food is superb. I can thoroughly recommend the lamb and the steak which were both cooked to perfection. A good wine list complements the experience. Deserts,again, are limited but so good. Prices are reasonable for a restaurant of this standard.

Staying for the night in the area and the hotel didn’t provide food. Wandered into town and saw an interesting looking restaurant. We didn’t have a reservation but we were welcomed and fortunately there was a table available. This is a cosy restaurant and I can imagine that it gets busy so generally I would imagine reservations would be recommended. The decor was very pleasant and there was a very relaxing feel to the restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The food was utterly amazing. The duck and lamb were both cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth. The seasonal vegetables were tasty and the way in which the cauliflower was cooked was unusual but delicious. The staff were all very accommodating for any requests that we had and nothing was too much trouble. For the overall experience and quality of food this is a very reasonably priced restaurant. A meal like this in my home town (London) would easily be three times the price. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you get the chance.
