The food was outstanding. Amazing curry, naan and rice! The best Indian food we’ve ever had. The service was outstanding, very kind and caring staff. The cook approached us towards the end of our meal in order to check up on how it was and speaking to him was a pleasure. The waiter was very patient and helpful as well. Lovely atmosphere and interior and reasonable prices. I’ll definitely be stopping by here with my boyfriend again the next time we drive past!

This pub/restaurant is a wonderful find. Each time we have visited we have received a friendly welcome. Today the weather was wintry so to walk into a warm, cosy environment was lovely. Our food was really delicious and all 4 Indian dishes were cooked to perfection. This restaurant deserves to do well and we will be returning again. Thank you to you all. Jan

Updated July 2023: Sir John Barleycorn has recently been taken over by yet another new owner and is consequently under new management. We had dinner there last night, the was super tasty. I do t eat coriander and they arranged my butter chicken to be totally coriander free which was a real treat. We had really crunchy tasty poppadoms and onion bhajis to start with. All in all, if you like really good Northern Indian food, go there. Thank you Maj and crew, we will back.

Amazing food and really appreciate that chef can accommodate making a veggie ( paneer ) option of curry’s not specifically listed on the menu. In my opinion as good as a curry gets . And my meat eating partner loves the lamb / chicken / fish options as well. Highly recommend

It was a fantastic place to stop on the way back from the New Forest and refreshing to have the choice of an excellent curry menu and pub classics. The food was excellent, and the service was speedy, which was perfect for our pause in a long journey. The chicken shaslic, butter chicken, and lamb rogan. Thank you!

A lovely 'fusion' style restaurant, Indian dishes we'd never really come across before. With traditional English options for the less adventurous, all in all a perfect little spot to enjoy with friends. Certainly will return... Very attentive staff giving the impression that they were very pleased to have you there. And the very friendly chef coming to the table to see that we were happy was a real extra... Keen to please as they were, we're very pleased to recommend a pub style atmosphered restaurant that shouldn't disappoint. Very nicely priced too. Thanks everyone. See you again!

Great food, bit of a wait but was worth it. Would have liked to have seen more starters , mains, sides but didn't see pudding menu. Plenty of tables inside and out. They also have a seperate Indian food menu that looked reasonable price. But would recommend this place, its tucked away in a little village surroundings.

We stopped here for lunch on the way home from a trip to Exeter. We live in Brighton so it was a convenient distance from both Devon and Brighton and easily accessed from the A27. The Indian menu is superb - super tasty, authentic and good value for money. You can tell it's cooked with love. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well as meat and fish and the portion sizes are good (I had the mutter paneer - side dish and a garlic naan) which was a perfect amount for me for lunch. It's dog friendly, has a sunny pretty garden and there's ample parking. They also offer a more traditional pub menu for those who don't fancy a curry but I must say, if you don't try the Indian menu you're missing out! Attentive, friendly staff as well. We visit the New Forest several times a year with our dogs so will definitely be back soon!

Stopped off for lunch and had a lively pint of Lindon Pride and a wonderful Goan fish curry. Great food and friendly staff.
