First time visit last night and would definitely return. Very nice atmosphere with stylish art decor theme. Staff were very polite, friendly and professional.
Good selection of food on the menu, and potion sizes were very good value for money. Homemade chips were amazing! Speed of service was a little slow to start, would normally like to have my drink order taken as soon as I sit down, but the food came out quickly and there wasn’t much wait between starter and mains. The live singer was also fantastic.
A great addition to the town centre - highly recommended.

Popped in for a drink after having a meal else where in Caerphilly. In hindsight I think we should have had food at the Gatehouse. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Menu looked (as we didn't eat) delicious and reasonably priced.
Will be visiting for food soon!

Fancied staying local for a catch up with a friend. So decided to try here. Wasn't disappointed. Lovely atmosphere, friendly helpful staff, food was 10/10 and amazing value for the money. Will definitely be a local meeting point for us in the future.

I've been a chef for 18 years, worked in some of the nicest restaurants and hotels in Cardiff, travelled the uk working and this was by far the best breakfast I've ever had at such a reasonable price too! 👌

This is a great little cafe in the town, with lovely views of the Castle through its windows.....The staff were all lovely and welcoming and the service was excellent as we never had to wait long for our order to arrive.... We had a pot of tea for two,I had fish chips and mushy peas,the Mrs had her usual toasted teacake and strawberry jam,it was all very nice........So a great place to get your refreshments if in the town....👍

After visiting the very nearby Castell Caerffili (Caerphilly Castle) we needed refreshments!
I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon along with Green Tea, the wife opted for Toasted Teacake and a Hot Chocolate made with Oat Milk.
Pleasantly surprised at the portion sizes considering the low cost. There was a lot smoked salmon along with the two eggs & rich Hollandaise Sauce all on two halves of a Toasted Bap.
I was enjoying mine far too much to comment on the wife's serving!!
The staff and the service was every bit as good as the food, a truly lovely experience.

It was a full house, got the table reserved. Prices reasonable and service was good. However, the food take ages to arrive for some reason and probably not that tasty especially cabbage it had completely no seasoning. Enough gravy for Sunday dish. Will recommend people to try it out. My hot chocolate was luke warm. Wish few of these concerns may be improved.

Visting from America and wanted to have a proper meal. Which can be hard being vegan and gluten free, but Gatehouse had me covered. The vegetable curry was savory and flavorful and the chips had a nice crisp.

My partner & I visited Caerphilly Castle & decided to try out the Gatehouse since it's right across the road. We're delighted we did because the food & service was genuinely amazing!
We got the Roast Chicken breast with pan fried mushrooms & buttery mash in butter sauce & we cleaned the plates! We also got a side of coleslaw, chips & cheesy garlic bread with drinks which were also amazing. Everything was freshly made. The head chef came over to us at the end of the meal and asked if we enjoyed it, we obviously praised his cooking (he designed the menu himself)!
The prices are also very good for such good quality food, the whole thing cost about £50! I'm annoyed with myself for not taking more pictures of our meals. We will be making a trip back to Caerphilly for dinner again!

Lovely little cafe. I have walked past this place and never thought to go in but I was looking for somewhere doing pancakes on pancake day and a friend suggested here. I was very pleasantly surprised. It was very busy and we had to sit in the outside seating area but the service was still quick and fantastic. The staff were very helpful going back in to get extra cutlery and a jug of tap water and then checking we had everything that we had ordered. I was very impressed and will definitely be returning and recommending.

Have had lunch, breakfast and brunch here in recent weeks and the food has been tasty, cooked well and good value. Has been very busy each time I've been and they have changed their system so that you order at the counter, rather than rely on table service, and this is much more efficient. Recommended
