Absolutely love the food here breakfast included! Well done to the chefs always do a brilliant job ! This pub grub has most definitely got better over the years. Love that the haywain in caldicot are having different events at the pub recently good effort to the events team. Now for the minor problem waiting times for drinks are not always the best. The bar staff are run off their feet and are doing their best to serve everyone and the majority of them send their sincere apologies to the customer after waiting a little while which is always nice to see. A polite barmaid will always bring back customers and the majority of them are brilliant. You wont be disappointed !!I would most definitely recommend

For the value its brilliant and can't be beaten. Food is really nice quality and you don't have to wait long to be served. Kind staff as well
All the staff were very pleasant and friendly. And the food was excellent. We have never been before but will certainly recommend and visit again soon.
Great service, meals arrived quick and were great . Big portions and were very tasty. The puddings were amazing. Table of 6 and everyone left very full and happy
Passing through looking for a quick bite and found this cosy restaurant. I personally had the scampi and chips with a Guinness while my family ordered gammons steak and a few appetizers. I would definitely order the same again if we are lucky enough to pass through again. The cherry on the top was the price… hard to beat
This place is always a pleasant experience. I've been here for food a few times, it's absolutely delicious and way above normal pub standard food.
We came the other day and it was really busy, the bar staff told us it would probably be up to an hour for food, but that wasn't a problem, we expected to be waiting when we saw how busy it was.
Unfortunately they had ran out of several drinks I asked for which was a little frustrating. The food then arrived and it was alright. I think because of how busy it was they were struggling in the kitchen to keep up and it effected the quality of food. It was a shame as normally the food here is excellent. I'm not saying it was bad but just not up to their normal standards.
However I can't really complain because we had a 50% off main meals, so two of us had large platters that only cost £6 in the end. So despite my slight complaints I would still strongly recommend visiting the Haywain, I'm sure if it's not as busy you'll be pleasantly suprised by the food.
First time here in a long time. 9 friends went for a catch-up. The menu has been updated, and there was a big choice. They don't have a gluten-free menu. You have to look on an app, which was a bit of a pain. Also, when one guest with an allergy asked a specific question for the chef, the answer that came back wasn't helpful - "the chef doesn't know"!
Nice food, relaxed time spent here.
Great food served with very helpful staff. Jane and her staff, especially Luisha, provide an amazing service.
I usually have a combo of chips and garlic bread, and the food is amazing! Friendly staff, and a cosy atmosphere. Also a great place for a fussy eater like me 🤣
Excellent choice of food, good value for money, fast and friendly service, attention to detail, lovely atmosphere and very welcoming!
