J & R's Steakhouse

We have always wanted to go to J&Rs because of the good things we heard. I love the whole set up. It’s comfy. I like that it’s loud, I love the chairs and floors, The server was great and the only reason I gave two stars. But our food was so bland and this is the main concept " The food" I have never had an entire meal with so much salt like the chili we had. My husband had a burger and this was raw, my fish hard and black fried bcs of the old oil. Someone needs to taste their own food. Hopefully they take advises, definitely we are willing to give one more chance!!!! I'm pretty sure if they start cooking homemade food and put love on it more than only $$$ this can be more productive. still we wanted to give it another chance.

Our server Cynthia was great tonight and the only reason I gave two stars. But our food was so bland. It wasn’t great this summer, still we wanted to to give it another chance. I mean we used to love this place. Now the food is terrible!! I have never had an entire meal with no seasonings. None. The onion soup, stuffed flounder, the mashed potatoes, the coleslaw!! Not a pinch of seasoning. My husband had a burger. No seasonings. The fries were dry. Dry? How does that even happen? I don’t know what happened to this place that used to feel family run and homey. I hope they are able to get back to what they used to be. Someone needs to taste their own food. Unfortunately I don’t think we will chance it again.

My family comes here at least once a year for the past few years and I can only say that the quality has significantly gone down post pandemic. First off, there’s no more bread! We got served soggy and over cooked macaroni pasta salad - way past al dente. I ordered a cheeseburger from the lunch menu and it was okay, but not even remotely seasoned and same for all of the items we ordered. The fries were subpar, not one of the worst fries I’ve ever eaten, but it’s down there. Some pieces were slightly crunchy while others just were not. The potato wedges were not the right choice. For dessert we got the apple pie and apple strudel. The strudel was terrible - cold, the phyllo was mushy, and it left a weird aftertaste. Apple pie was great to take home and warm up again. We were going to get the cheesecake, but they charge an extra $2 now if you order it from your lunch menu set. Overall, the quality of the food went down so significantly that my family unfortunately won’t be coming back here again.

Went here for belated Mother's Day dinner. We were 5 adults 3 kids. It was packed but the service was quick and we got our appetizers quickly. I had a Greek salad YUM. I ordered the small prime rib and baked potato. YUM AND YUM and brought plenty home for the next day. Our servers and the staff were all pleasant and helpful. Will definitely go again.

Used to love this place but after my last visit I won't be back. The prices used to be better but the increase is understandable under today's circumstances; however cutting back on the quality of their product is not acceptable. First let me say the staff was very friendly, however I ordered a 16 oz marinated rib eye steak, rare. When it came out it was well done...I considered changing the type of steak when I returned it bc it was very thin, not at all how I remembered it but didn't want to cause problems so I let them remake the steak. This time it came out rare but not marinated. No seasoning just greasy...worse than that i found the meat was gristly,dry and tough.. it was very difficult to chew in fact I gave up as it was inedible. I'm actually sorry I swallowed what I did. I'd chalk it up to a bad cut but my spouse also ordered the steak and theirs was just as bad. I asked several different staff members for the manager but they never came nor did our bill. After 20 min I left the table and found the manager who said no one ever came to them. The manager did the right thing and comped the meal, which I was thankful for but felt really bad about the experience as I loved coming here. I will have to see if the review start to trend up bf returning. In the meantime I'll try to remember the 20 years of good visits.
