Another lovely Wetherspoons.. (and surprisingly the only one in Cambridge City)
It stills has the Cinema feel, and plenty of information within detailing historical facts. There is a big screen (previously watched the Grand National) which is fab.
Be warned.. it can get very busy and extremely loud on football match days. We wondered why there was such a huge Police presence. Whilst it was busy and loud, there was no trouble, just a fun atmosphere.
On non football match days we have found it to be rather busy on all visits, albeit we have always found a table.
There are a variety of seating areas within and an outside area too. If sat on the lower tier, it helps if the fire door is kept closed, as when open the smell of smoking wafts in.
Whilst prices have increased, the drinks are still cheaper than other places.
The staff are very friendly, helpful and approachable.. it is rather welcoming.
When in Cambridge, this is always a place we return, and we will continue to do so.
Totally recommend this Spoons...
Very fantastic Place, big and with a good Number of different beer. IPA Lager and so on. The food Is quite good with kind of meal from different country, fish and cheeps ocviusly are here.
Great place with good food, the staff were very friendly, the food came quite fast and hot and the portions were quite larg, and it was way cheaper than most of restaurants, and you had a lot of options to choose from the menu. Definitely worth eating here

The Regal is a very large and fairly comfortable JD Wetherspoon pub in the city centre of Cambridge. It covers two spacious levels. Food is streamlined JDW grub, but well presented and cheap, as are the beers. Prices have increased here, too, but it's still the cheapest food & drinks option in town. Altogether a fairly superior pub of its kind.
Wonderful lunch on 11sep23. while we visit Cambridge 1day from London .
Wetherspoon alway deliver good meals while we visit in different cities in U.K.
We love the beer or alcohol or tea or coffee included in the meal.
Thanks.
Nice Wetherspoons. This is the sort of place Wetherspoons convert so well - a 1930's ex cinema, converted with much respect to the buildings existing features in an art deco style. Several levels and on a wednesday morning an oasis of calm in the city centre. Good choice of guest ales on my visit too.

This has to be the biggest wetherspoons in the UK, using a lower floor, ground floor (where the bar is) & a mezzanine level.
A great selection of real ales, cider & larger.
Went into The Regal as we haven't visited before. We chose a table upstairs as it was busy downstairs and were relieved when we found you could order food at the bar upstairs .Ordered Scampi and Chicken
Tikka curry with drinks .The staff were really pleasant and helpful and the meal was very tasty .What more could you ask.
nice environment. food ok.
all you can drink.
good place to meet friends.
A cogent reminder that there is a hot meal to be had, a refillable drink, a place in the centre of town to sit for a few hours, for under £10. Good service, loads seating and plenty of choice. It’s not the Ritz-Carlton, but it’s dependable, good value and friendly.
