Moca review: November 24, 2021 Excellent mocha! Great foam layer, nice decoration from the barista on top, and good balance of espresso and chocolate all the way down. Seems odd to make it with chocolate milk, but it means there is no residue at the bottom of the cup and no change in flavor as you drink it. It’s a standard thing at the Darwins Cafes. They use chocolate milk from Thatcher Farms, which hits my sweet spot for being on the dry side and not too sweet.

I’ve been coming here for a decade plus, and I’ve generally been happy with their portion sizes and sandwich flavors. However, today I got the Radcliffe, and it is anything but the aforementioned - it’s ridiculously small, the biscuit crumbles as you eat it, and it lacked any real flavor. All that for $9.50? You’ve got to be kidding me! I’ll always give them another shot, but I highly recommend avoiding this breakfast sandwich.

I think my nickname for the place is all too appropriate: “Darwin’s, Survival of the Richest.” That, notwithstanding, I continue to patronize it because the sandwiches at all their locations are the best (though I wish pumpernickel were an option) and their Florentines pretty special. I might also add that the service is as slow as it is personable—that is to say, very!

Darwin's had come highly recommended to me by Google. I arrived early and got a seat to work for a while. Coffee was good/fresh. Slightly pricey, but in line with expectations for a local coffee shop in Cambridge. They had a decent amount of seating and outlets, so I was pleasantly surprised. It was a great place to work. I would return again to try the food!
