Had a lovely afternoon with one of my oldest friends nice meal ang good pint the only thing I would say is the food could be a bit mo're warmer I like my good piping hot I felt it was a nite like warm . Other than that I liked the place very much.
An excellent experience was to be had for my family group on the afternoon of 13/11/16 (a Sunday, in case your interested! ). The food was just right, my own order was Battered fish, chips & peas - as it was for 3 others in my group! Got to say that it was the best fish & chips I had ever had: the batter was lush and the fish itself lovely n flaky and, as one person said, just melts in the mouth! The dessert, for me, was a knickerbocker glory; the first time I had ever had one, just brilliant! As to service: there were no problems whatsoever, the bartenders and waitresses were very attentive. All in all the few hours we spent were lovely and the cost, surprisingly inexpensive! I recommend you to go there, you'll have a great time!!
Lovely staff, nice vintage interior of an old cinema (might need a little touch here and there but has a climate of its own)... Good portions of food in a fair price. Unfortunately wheelchair user might find it really hard to get to the pub us there are only steps and could not find a lift. Another down fold is parking if you don't know the area you might find it harder to find a parking spot especially free of charge.
I always stop here for breakfast whenever heading to Glasgow. The place is a real gem. The decor is stunning! Well done JDWetherspoons for keeping the architectural integrity of this building just as John Fairweather originally intended when he designed the Savoy Cinema. Love the Scottish breakfast. Would definitely recommend!
I’m not 100% on this but I think the last I time I visited this place was when I was a kid, and my mum took me to see either Pinocchio (on rerelease) or Thunderball around 1964/5. So, when I visited this place again last month I was really taken aback (and a tad emotional – no I hadn’t had a drink ) it’s a genuinely stunning looking pub that has preserved the features of the old cinema wonderfully. I only had a pint as was meeting friends in Town and popped into Cambuslang on my way to meet them - it was just what you expect from Wetherspoons a good solid drink at a reasonable price but is lovely surroundings. Love the place.
Typical spoons, really nice inside, dummies in the seats are a nice touch. Shame about the junkies outside on steps. Put us off from returning
Good honest, scoff, and stupidly cheap.
I've only done the breakfast menu when I'm passing and have 45 mins of free time.
I can't handle the full breakfasts as they are a belly bomb tsunami, but don't take my word for it, go for it. I'm gonna get pics on my next " sorry boss the traffic is a nightmare, I'll be an hour late" 🤣
This place is mixed bag. Firstly, it's a beautiful, stunning old cinema with many features remaining. There are ornate gold decorative features throughout. I could admire it for hours. Amazing range of beers and the prices are quite remarkable.
That makes it a millennial heaven who are too busy being millennials to appreciate their exquisite surroundings. I'll say it before you- okay boomer!
Great pub. Friendly staff. Mix up with food order but quickly sorted. Food was excellent.
I know that Spoons taking over historical buildings is often not viewed positively, but it is really well executed in this case, and the atmosphere is actually really good.
Enjoying tasty food in a brilliant building and fixtures with good manner service
Lovely place inside such a beautiful building inside especially with many of the original features remaining intact. Food is usually decent too, only negative is they bring in their poached eggs already half cooked which is slightly disappointing it’s not hard or time consuming to freshly poach an egg
