My friend found this place and asked for a table ahead of the rugby. The staff were so accommodating & lovely - it felt like it was our local rather than a new place to visit. The menu is small & perfectly formed. We were really impressed with the flavours & quality of food. Definitely recommended!
I ate here twice and had a very good experience. The food is great (try anything with mushrooms!) for reasonable prices, they have a lot of beers and ciders and the waitresses are kind and attentive.
Also good to know: this place is super family friendly! The mixed/baby bathroom even had wet wipes.
Also a really great atmosphere. Classic bar with people of all ages. The garden was also ideal for our toddler to play around with other toddlers. Everyone was also very welcoming to us as tourists, while there definitely is a very "local" feeling.
Beautiful little pub a real gem in Canterbury. I've recently made the poor decision to go alcohol free and but miss a pint and this place does lucky saint on draft so I'm very happy about that. Haven't tried the food yet but will do soon it looks great. Service always polite and quick
Super little pub, really traditional with a great choice of beers, ciders and food the locals are very welcoming. Staff and landlord really friendly and great service. Definitely will be revisiting when we return to England for a visit...
What can I say, amazing food, lovely sized portions in a Vegan restaurant for once!!!!!!! First Vegan restaurant that does ‘pub-food’ right. Service and ambiance were great and the menu (see pictures) was fantastic. They were out of red wine after a festival but that was fine. I will change this rating to a 5 star one when they remove themselves from Gourmet Society after I couldn’t use my card and get 25% off. Apparently this is because of the last owner and they are having trouble coming off the list. Of course they could instead just join GS and that way more people can use the service and make savings!!! OMG the ‘Monumental’ burger is aptly names and just fantastic 😁
Canterbury has many public houses, however, most of them belong to the local brewer Shepherd Neame. It is refreshing to find a Free House which is warm and welcoming and serves good food and a different range of beers.
The beer is well kept and the food of good quality.
It's also dog friendly, even though I don't have a dog 😂.
Visited on a Sunday and the pub was busy. The piped music is fine when there are a few guests, however, with too many people, the music gets turned up and the conversation gets very loud, which can be quite overpowering. This doesn't mean it's raucous, however, I would not recommend coming here for a quiet drink when there are too many people.
Just my preference 😎
This is a must-visit for your visit to Canterbury. A short walk from the station just outside the city walls, the variety of vegan junk food is amazing, and every meal we tried impressed. They also do a range of desserts, vegan beers and cocktails, including veganised versions of a White Russian and Bloody Mary. The staff are friendly and helpful and interior is cosy and clean with a great big beer garden outside.
Service and atmosphere were lovely. Menu isn't very extensive so found it difficult to find something to eat. I had the harissa burger but found it a bit overpowering. My husband had the lamb chops and enjoyed them.
Lovely place. Lovely service. It's just all the beer made my mate twist his ankle :)
Great pub! Great food, drinks and staff!
I had been to this pub before for bands, and had a great time, this time however we went for food. Pleasantly surprised would be an understatement.
First of I'm not vegan but my girlfriend is and I can safely say that I did not miss a thing! Amazing taste (presentation could have been better) but all round really good food.
The staff have a friendly and solid rapport. The bar tender makes a great Cuban!
Would recommend to all!
