Really busy little cafe (you know it’s going to be good!) with a couple of front tables, indoor tables & garden space (it was full so we didn’t manage to see the garden). We sat in the front. Menu definitely could have been clearer & in larger font. Food was really good & we were welcome to take out although we didn’t think coffee was that good comparing to other places. Major low was when we ordered cheese panini & 2 spinach quiches… lady asked if we want some salad with it so we said yes… not expecting to be charged for it at the end £3.25 pp. Queue was really long, from both sides but we weren’t ready to pay £6.50 extra so I queued to ask what that charge was. The lady said its the salads, I said we had no idea we had to pay extra for it & were not prepared to pay extra(elsewhere when you order quiche or sandwiches you get extra salad &/or crisps without additional charge) but herself & other 2 members of staff just stood there in silence looking at me so I just took it on the chin & left. I’d like to suggest that next time when you offer things like this just clarify that it’ll be extra charge. It would save us frustration & you’d get a 5* review because food was really good (especially Honey Cake). Nobody likes feeling like they were being done over.
Quaint little cafe at the heart of Canterbury.
The food was delicious, with a range of dishes ordered by the table and everyone being complimentary about their choice and enjoying it so much we even ended up having a dessert at lunch time.
The cafe is very small, so if having space is a consideration you might need to check first.
The staff were great, helpful, chatty and encouraging of our little one ordering for himself.
Can't rate highly enough.
Delightful way to start our day in Canterbury! Really enjoyed sitting outside in the garden and would highly recommend. My almond croissant was amazing — my husband really enjoyed his petit dejeuner as well!
