We used to frequent OZ Urfa when it was located in City Road fairly often purely due to the immense quality of cooking and the great service we always received
This was our first visit since it relocated to North Road and we weren’t disappointed
A far bigger restaurant, that got busier and full when we finished and left
The owner was his usual gracious, friendly and helpful self
The waitress, I believe was fairly new, was very friendly, efficient and attentive
And the chef (brother) was clearly on point tonight as the food was outstanding
My dad is the ultimate food critic, but he had nothing but great things to say
He doesn’t eat much these days (turns 85 this year), but he was demolishing everything put in front of him tonight!
Even our little 3 year old kept going back for more
Will definitely be returning as we want to try a few other dishes, including their fish
Visited Oz Urfa when meeting up with some friends on Wednesday night. We'd heard good things about the place so wanted to give it a go. We ordered drinks, starters, and a sharer platter called the Governors Plate as a main between the four of us. The service was top quality. The food was exceptional. Really can't fault them at all. Would recommend this as a place to visit. If you want to try Turkish food for the first time then this is a fantastic restaurant to sample it. Will definitely be going back again.
Called here Sunday night with my wife and only wanted a small meal ( which is difficult since they are so generous!) So we settled for a güvec each and only waited a short time before sizzling platefuls of lamb güvec ( Kurdish stew) for my wife, and mixed seafood stew for myself, together with a tasty salad were on the table. We'd opted for bread rather than rice to accompany it, and soon disposed of a whole bowlful of the lovely flatbread, which was then topped up so we could use it to soak up the remaining juices. A quick, really pleasant meal, with a glass of good white wine as well. Up to the usual standard!
Authentic food, cooked on charcoal, not a microwave in sight. Restaurant warm and light, which is always good to see what one is eating. Good service and owner is very accommodating. I wanted the green beans, which was a cold starter, but asked for them to be warm, and they were excellent. Bread quite thick and warm as opposed to the wrap like bread often served in Mediterranean style restaurants. My husband had the lamb chops as a main which he loved.
A fantastic, authentic family run local business who pride themselves on great tasting food which looks fantastic. My family and I went this afternoon for my Fiancé’s surprise birthday meal. The service was outstanding and they go above and beyond to ensure that everything is perfect for you.
This was an evening out with friends and we were made feel very relaxed. No rush and no fusding. Good was delicious and even came away with baklava courtesy of the chef. Fresh pomegranate juice was amazing.
Held a charity event with 38 people at Oz Urfa in mid-January and every single one of us was delighted with the quality of the food, brilliant atmosphere and welcoming staff. Ferudun and his brother (chef) are hard working stars deserving of every success. Diolch yn fawr iawn i chi.
Lovely staff and lovely atmosphere made my husbands birthday really special, we will definitely be returning, Thankyou!
Sorry about the pic we stayed and then took the pic lol
All fresh, home-cooked, great quality, enjoyed it immensely. I had the Ali Nazir, which was memorably delicious. Definitely coming back...
Great food all homemade with quality ingredients. Will definitely return to try more of the menu. Also liked the Turkish black tea.
This is now my favourite restaurant in Cardiff, up against a lot of competition. Friendly service, but most importantly, amazing food. Wide selection of kurdish dishes, we went for the governors plate for 6, which could certainly have fed more. Great value for money too!
Shocking. Brilliant. Haven’t had good Turkish food since my visit to Turkey in 2001, and was delighted to find how amazing every course was at Oz Urfa. After spending a week in Cardiff with family, visiting so many lovely restaurants in the city, Oz Urfa was far and above the best food I’ve had here. Everything was made fresh and the lamb was local. Make sure to try the baklava when you’re done!
Highly recommend if you're looking for authentic Turkish cuisine. Excellent food for a reasonable price. I shared the governors plate for two and it was exceptional (picture attached). Friendly accomodating staff were more than happy to help, overall a very pleasant evening!
Excellent as always simply faultless!
Superb flavours accompanied by brilliant service. I highly recommend the cold meze and mixed grill
Second time here and it was my first time at a Turkish restaurant but I must say both times the food has been amazing best meats I have tasted with amazing flavour and the staff were awesome
We went here on Wednesday for our Christmas lunch. We had superb food which was plentiful (the mixed Mezze was to die for) and the front of house was great- attentive and funny. What a great place.
We’ll definitely be going back and before next Christmas!!
This is the best Turkish I’ve had it was so tasty. Even the simple things like rice were excellent. They make there own yogurt and sundried tomatoes.
The chef learnt in a 5 star luxury hotel in Turkey and brings that level of quality to the food.
The decor is rough and ready but it’s worth it for the food.
We had a starter and a sharing platter for two. 4 beers Baclavar and tea. For £24 each. Bonkers
We found the restaurant on trip advisor and decided to visit, it is a simple friendly restaurant with a lovely relaxed welcoming atmosphere.
The food was fresh, tender and full of flavour, the salad topped with pomegranate also delicious.
We had the mixed grill for two to share highly recommended!
i have been to this place two times. First time by chance and 2nd time on purpose! Food is good, place is small and can be cramped. Service is ok but not great, seems to be the usual expectation of how much the customer going to spend and service accordingly! the prices are on higher side, i think more than what you would pay in other turkish restaurants. There are a lot of turkish restaurants around in Cardiff, in my view all of them pretty much same on food quality, what makes them apart is their service.
A last minute change of plans lead us to this restaurant, the staff were friendly and we had a warm welcome. Although initially empty it steadily filled up. Food was authentic Mesopotamian ?? Interesting and tasty food. Give it a try peeps.
