Maintaining a fairly low key profile in the Cardiff dining scene, it’s pretty clear Casanova are ticking over happily based on word of mouth. However, in my view they deserve a far higher profile than some of the more famous Cardiff Italian restaurants. If you want to eat some food a little closer to the kind of thing you'd get in Italy then I'd strongly suggest a visit.
Beautiful small Italian restaurant in the city centre. Service was flawless from start to finish and the food was phenomenal. I have never had a specials list explained with such passion and detail, a perfect meal.
Cosy friendly, family run. Small menu, be brave, beautiful well thought out delicious. Wine choices luscious. Undoubtedly the best way to dine in Cardiff
The food here is spectacular.
Loved the sauce👌
I’m glad I stopped here before heading back to London.
Tiny bit expensive drinks😭
I’ll visit again next time I’m in Cardiff and maybe order a whole bottle instead of a glass of wine.
I've always enjoyed visiting Casanova, but it's been a while and boy have they your their game! The food was absolutely stunning. I had the carpaccio to start, with aged parmesan. Then loin of veal for main, while my wife had the seafood pasta, we shared an excellent cheese board and a rich chocolate mousse. Friendly service and plenty of info about the dishes if you wanted it. Great place for a relaxed evening of good food and wine.
Excellent fine dining. Small menu, but everything freshly prepared and great.
A little expensive but worth it for a special treat.
Maybe I'm a little harsh - it was mostly excellent. I just wanted a little more. Perhaps some more nicely done veg on the side of the main dishes. Or more options than the house wine to drink by the glass. But the food we ate was very good. Nice crostini to start and the ragu as a main also very good too.
Superb little Italian place, quiet when we went. The food is delicious and while service is a very leisurely pace, it is friendly. The bread is best eaten with the olive oil alone, as the oil is full of rich flavour and is apparently sourced from Italy.
The risotto was deliciously seasoned and covered generously with summer truffle. Very rich and thoroughly enjoyable.
The main was a slow cooked ragu - when the pasta is cooked al dente and the meat is tender and soft, you know it's been done right.
Went on Valentine's day, the boss treated us with a warm welcoming and nice food. Although the main course delayed for half an hour, he compensated with a platter of prosciutto and cheese. The tiramisu was extraordinary good and recommend.
Certainly the best food I've had in Cardiff. The staff and the chef know exactly what they're doing. Great food at a fair price.
Food was beautiful and really delicious.
I love its mood too!
