Came here Friday evening for a meal quite late in the evening, and the food was still incredible. Both starters and mains were beautifully presented, and the food was stunning (best Hunter’s Chicken ever) Would definitely recommend, and will be back in the future. Massive thumbs up
17 of us had a meal there yesterday it was amazing food was about 30 minutes after ordering but that's good I think for the amount of us there was staff were all friendly and did everything we asked would highly recommend the whago burger was stunning also hunter's chicken and the carrot cheese cake was amazing
First time here for over 30 years , and it's even better. Excellent service , the food is delicious. This place is perfect is perfect for date nights and romantic meals . Best to book as it gets busy 9/10 from me
An amazing little find, and highly recommend. Probably the best Sunday lunch I've had in a very long time.
Food, Tri Meat Sunday dinner / Sirloin Beef Sunday Dinner. Side of cauliflower cheese and stuffing:
Dinners: it was delicious, every bite. Nothing was done incorrectly. The meat was soft and tender, the beef was cooked perfectly. The roast potato's crunchy, the veg lovely, Yorkshire pudding was airy a good size, stuffing with bacon wrapped around them were delicious.
You get a small pot of gravy, which was plenty. We did ask for more, and it came instantly. Mint sauce tasted home made, which I didn't expect.
A weirdly odd thing which I loved how was the veg came in a separate dish on the plate, so you could share with someone or chose what you wanted from the fish. I feel this place nailed everything!
And for the price, you couldn't ask for me. We paid £54; 2 dinners, 2 sides, and 2 drinks. And considering the size and quality, I would easily pay that again and again.
Service:
Polite staff, who all looked incredibly professional. We never waited long for anything, that includes our dinners. We were never rushed and felt we ordered at our own pace.
Atmosphere:
Absolutely gorgeous, from the low beam ceiling, to the firepits placed around. There was a lovely couple with a baby in a high seat, and I felt the atmosphere was so relaxed and call.
Bravo to the staff, chefs and owner for making an incredibly venue.
Gorgeous building, friendly staff and amazing food. Really enjoyed coming here for dinner. Pictured is the raspberry house soda, beef dripping sandwich, strawberry Bellini trifle and double chocolate brownie. Very ‘posh’ but at a reasonable price! Was also nice to be able to take the dog with us. Looking forward to our next visit!
Service was fantastic. The atmosphere was relaxed and we did not feel rushed. The log fire was a great touch, keeping us nice and warm! The menu selection was great and the food was outstanding. We both commented what a lovely evening we had. Thank you
Lovely place which was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday lunch time.
Good food, good portions, fair price.
General design, decor and atmosphere were really nice.
Plenty of parking, makes a good treat after one of the many walks around Caerphilly mountain.
Looking forward to going again.
Pleasant outdoor seating available too.
It was good, prices not bad. Service recommended. One needs to book prior visit. Plenty of parking with accessibility to all. Bathrooms available. Wish they could improve on birthday candles. Overall, I recommend Travellers Rest to everyone as menu is also accommodative.
Had an excellent Sunday afternoon meal here. Booked a table via their app. Our dogs were allowed in too. Food was excellent. Lauren was cheerful and super helpful in the bar. We would definitely come back again .
I visited this amazing little gem with my Mum and Sister.
We were blown away by how wonderful this place is.
Beautiful food made from fresh ingredients and a roaring fire was a welcome sight.
Best Sunday dinner I've had in a while. Great quality food and very reasonable.
