What a pleasure it is to fly from Cardiff Airport. The airport is clean and very well sign posted. The security staff are absolutely brilliant and so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of food and drinks are available before your flights as well. This is by far the best airport to fly from. Not too busy and comfortable. I can't wait until Qatar Airways starts flying from there again soon.
Love smaller airports like this. So calm and quiet, had zero queue going through security. On the departure side, there's a couple of places to eat and tonnes of seating, so you can find your own quiet space.
First thing to know is that bus 301 takes from the city center to the airport, it takes about 1hr 30 mins The airport is fairly small which helps to not get lost inside and to navigate easily in it. But also, not many shops can be found there, nor food and drink places, only a couple of options which didn't suit me. Overall, it's clean, decent and the staff are friendly.
Pleasantly surprised, we haven't used this airport for over 15 years. Everything went smoothly from parking the car to checking in. Not many shops or cafes but enough, also enjoyed the best coffee ever at Cafe Ritazza, recommend this place.
On returning we loved the decorated walls with the castle theme and pictures of Wales on the walls. If we can use this airport again we definitely will.
Best airport experience here. No long waits, very efficient and absolutely lovely staff! A very kind air stewardess gave us directions when we were lost and she just so happened to be on our flight to Faro and asked us if we wanted to move to the extra legroom seats as my husband is tall. There were lots of toilets at every stage we passed through, check in, security, the gates, etc. all very well cleaned and hygienic. The only negative is that the water bottle refill fountains were covered with bin bags but we the people in Costa kindly filled them up for us.
The airport was fairly quiet, only three flights going at the time I was there. The security was quick as I have due probably to there so few flights. The duty free is a fair size and there a bar with decent food, another food area a big costas and a WHSmtih where you can get a meal deal.
There is a water filling station there too.
Lovely little airport, might be different if it was busier but a nice stressless experience.

A small airport but very efficient. There wasn’t any long queues heading out, and due to the smaller size it’s quite easy to find your way through to your gate. In terms of offering there’s a Costa, WH Smith’s, pub, restaurant and duty free store. It doesn’t have all the flashy stores you might find at a larger airport, but there’s everything you need.
Some areas of the airport such as the toilets seem quite dated, but that’s a minor point. The majority of the terminal is quite spacious. It would be great to see more low cost carriers add more destinations. Parking prices were £88 for the week via Holiday extras which is fairly reasonable. Public transport to the airport could be better, such as reintroducing the shuttle bus from Cardiff.
We recently flew to Faro (Portugal) from Cardiff. We enjoyed a very good all-round experience on the way out and return. For example, the airport lounge was excellent. The staff were very friendly and efficient.
On our return, we experienced a flat car battery (after standing idle for a fortnight). The airport staff quickly attended to this and we were on our way in no time.
So quiet compared to the London terminals and with that a much better airport experience.
Absolutely love flying from Cardiff airport. No queues, lovely friendly staff and the airport lounge is the best I've been too. Special mention to Linda and Mya in the lounge who were amazing when we recently visited. Security staff are also the best I've met.
