Couldn’t recommend the North Star enough. There’s always a good selection of entertainment through the week, inc a pub quiz or cabaret.
The Sunday lunch is always excellent quality and great value.
The staff are always friendly and welcoming and make a real effort to engage with you whilst you’re there.
The pub, also, is very dog friendly - they even came to the table to give a small portion of Sunday lunch to our dog when we were there. It was really kind of them
and he really enjoyed it!

We recently visited for Sunday lunch, all the menu had lots of great gluten free and vegetarian options. The food was really well cooked and wasn't over priced. We'll definitely be going again.
NB: Also great for those that eat meat, I had the 3 meat feast with beef, chicken and belly pork. It was possibly the best Sunday dinner I've had in Cardiff.
Great food, good drinks and plenty of different things on during the week. You really can't fault this pub and its well priced. We love coming here for a Sunday lunch and our dog absolutely loves it too as he's always spoilt by Dave!
We were looking for a pub with good reviews and this one had some great reviews for good reason. We went here and ordered the baked goats cheese which was delicious, the crab cakes again delicious, the steak sandwich which had a good amount of steak, the fish and chips the fish was fresh and the chips nice and chunky. The chicken curry was a good size with the samosas a nice touch. The deserts which was a crumble was delicious. I highly recommend here and the single staff member was very nice and polite. Every member of staff I've spoken to here has been LOVELY. if the staff weren't so pleasant I would have knocked a star off.
The only really bad point is that I've never had 4G signal, and there's barely any WiFi signal (even though free WiFi is provided yay), I guess that can be great if you're having a phone free time but in terms of ordering right now it's a pain. Please get a WiFi booster guys!
However the North Star is clean, nicely decorated, has loads of seating, and a good selection of drinks fairly priced. I haven't been for food myself but I've heard mixed reviews on the veggie Sunday lunch - but great that the option exists all the same. :)
Drinks are cheap and good, the place is perfect for literally everyone. Definitely going back. They have really good non-alcoholic options as well, my friends got hot chocolates.

With the outstanding Sunday dinners; I don't know what they do with the parsnips but they are absolutely lush. I hate hate hate parsnips but I find myself coming here just for them lol 😂. And the pork? About the length of a 10 year old's arm! So good with the crackalin the hole way over, with the nicest tast of salt bliss. You would thing there's amazing meals would be quite expensive, but think again because a pork meal at only £10.5! With also a good gluten free meals! And on top of all that with kids meals and Desserts. The staff are always happy and friendly, and the entertainment is always great! That it why I come here so oftern and rate it a :

(And not to mention the pool table, Sunday Karaoke and ping pong table! )
Decent steak cooked as ordered (which believe me can be hard to find). We also ordered the fish and chips,the fish was huge, the size of a child's arm! Would like to try their Sunday roast as have heard great things. Recommended.
