We stayed at a B&B not too far away that recommended this place for dinner. The dining room had some boisterous people, and it put a smile on my face as it's not your typical dining experience. I quite enjoyed it. I was a bit skeptical on the food whilst reading the menu, but they could not have proved me so wrong - it was delicious! There is a good size car park, which is a great addition so you don't have to spend too much time trying to find someplace to park. I would definitely come back when in the area.

Amazing place, set as on crossroads in middle of open countryside, stunning views, we stayed in the Pod, 4 of us stayed but easily accommodate 6 people, had 2 bathrooms, kitchen, lounge, everything you needed, tv etc. we booked meal for 6 on evening and cannot fault the food or service, absolutely gorgeous proper local sourced ingredients. Again couldn’t fault, spent rest of evening in bar with roaring fire and fab atmosphere locals and other staying guests.

Good portions were quite large as compared to other places. The chicken wings were too tastyyyy!!!! Tried steak, which was phenomenal!

Wow! What a little gem of an Inn. Lost on a crossroads (hence the name, I guess!) in what seems the middle of nowhere, this idyllic little locals' country pub has been expanded to include a boutique hotel (I think with only 3 or 4 rooms but don't quote me) coupled with a fabulous restaurant. The owner is the landlord and the chef. And boy can he cook!! We only stayed one night but we had an evening meal there and breakfast and both were fantastic. I had the best belly pork I've ever eaten anywhere and a full english breakfast to rival any I've had in my 45 years on the planet. The pork was apparently from a hand-reared pig raised by the landlord. My partner had scampi which was the best she'd ever had, too, and also enjoyed a similar breakfast. The pub served every drink we wanted and the staff were all friendly and welcoming. The pub itself seems to be a social hub of local folk, and the bar was busy late into the night. A 6 foot pool table drew a lot of attention and me being a pool lover, and the table being winner stays on, I played a lot of games. The table was true and decent and the local competition was not lacking in skill. I had a very enjoyable evening and for the most part, the other patrons made my partner feel welcome while I hogged the pool table. The grounds are lovely - a large lawn at the back with 3 picnic benches that offer open seating or privacy as you prefer, and some lovely flowers, flanked by cow fields and farmland. The sunset was beautiful and the establishment looks to have added an outdoor covered seating area during covid which now offers beautiful views of the aforementioned sunset for evening diners. There is plenty of parking across the road and 'private' parking for hotel guests which meant we didnt need to log our suitcases across the road. The location is great for exploring the local area, with close proximity to Hadrian's Wall and only 15-20 minutes drive to the nearest town and about half an hour from Carlisle. As for the hotel, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was perfectly adequate, the shower was super powerful and nice and warm and we were allowed to put all our expenses on a single tab for the whole visit. Very trusting and very welcoming. Good old fashioned hospitality and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the place to anyone.

Visited here on a recommendation and couldn't be happier. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced, nice eating area and friendly locals cracking jokes at the bar. The owner came over towards the end of our meal for a chat and was really friendly. All in all, a great place to visit

Exceptional stopover B&B, I think I could happily eat in the restaurant every night for a week. Room spacious and clean, breakfast on point, staff friendly and had a lovely morning plod. Hopefully we can stay a couple of nights next time and explore a bit.

Absolutely worth 6 stars, landlord very friendly and very helpful, as were all of the staff. Breakfast was very good and saw us through the day, Liz, who cooks the breakfast, was incredibly helpful with her local knowledge and ideas for places to visit. The room was very clean with a comfortable bed and beautiful views out off all the windows. Food on the evening was out of this world, good menu with a good selection of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Very, out in the sticks, beautiful scenery, brilliant walks and Hadrian's wall close by. Lovely log fire in the bar and great beers to relax with. Well worth a visit.

Arrived into town later then expected. The publican was so polite and happily allowed us to order some dinner. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is very cheerful and the beers a cold 😊

We were on holiday locally for 4 nights and walked to the Crossings every evening for our dinner. The food was exceptional. We shared a tomahawk steak and it was just perfect. I could have eaten a bowlful of the accompanying blue cheese sauce. Managed to try a few different dishes and the other standouts were the cheese soufflé starter, beef rendang and ox cheek. Special mention to John at the bar who made us feel very welcome and looked after us each night. The waiting staff were also really friendly. My only gripe was that the choice of draught beer. Would have liked to have seen something local and perhaps something different from lager, bitter and cider. That may just be my personal preference and I guess that's what sells. All in all a very pleasant, welcoming country pub with nice atmosphere and great food.
