With the M6 being closed for maintenance we decided, rather than take the diversion everyone else took, that we'd take a country route and find a pub to eat at for lunch. The Swan came up perfect on our route.
What an amazing find for a Sunday lunchtime.
The lady serving couldn't have been more welcoming and the burgers we ordered were perfect. Wish I lived near this pub.. it's the type you hardly find any longer.

A very enjoyable 3 course evening meal. Typical pub food, but nicely cooked and well presented.
I had steak and it was lovely and tender.

Our third visit to this beautiful pub, the food is excellent, real 'pub food' which you don't tend to find very often these days. Highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding. The owners are very welcoming, even with our 'spirited' children. The building is lovely with many original features retained. Certainly our 'go to' place to eat when we're in the area.

Great beer garden to sit and watch the bikes go by :) and an added bonus of a kids climbing frame to keep them busy.

Absolutley amazing traditional country pub I often find excuses to drive the 2 hours just to end up near by here as an excuse to visit the swan.
Amazing food, great hosts and locals.
Last bastion of the great British country Inn.
Highly recommend

Our second visit to this Charming old pub in the same week. Tasty home made no nonsense food and a very well kept pint of Wainwight. The Landlady (Lynn?) made us most welcome after a long drive . Will definitely be back.

Lovely, cosy proper country pub with inviting open fire. Lovely landlord and landlady, too. Eaten here as well a few weeks ago and the food was really good. Really worth a visit.

We enjoyed another lovely lunch at The Swan Inn today.
We enjoyed freshly cooked fish and chips, steak & kidney pudding and Cumbrian beef burger followed by homemade ginger sponge, apple pie and treacle sponge with custard.
The landlady is always friendly and welcoming. A great pub in a lovely rural setting!

Ate here twice as staying locally. Good honest food at reasonable prices - the beer was also great! We had gammon, steak & ale pie and lamb shank all of which were a good portion with vegetables. Friendly and much recommended.

Friendly and helpful hosts. Roomy and spacious in a lovely setting. Has a nice selection of reasonably priced meals including vegetarian dishes. Looking forward to our next visit when visiting our daughter nearby. Not sure what their policy is on dogs but children welcome.
