If you're looking for a cozy and inviting spot to unwind after exploring the breathtaking North Yorkshire Moors, look no further than The Downe Arms Inn! Tucked away among charming shops and quaint cottages, this stone-built pub is the perfect place to kick back, relax, and refuel. During my recent visit with friends, the staff at The Downe Arms went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. The food was all served at the same time, hot and fresh, and I HAVE to give a special shout-out to their vegetarian lasagne – it was seriously out of this world! Even as a die-hard meat lover, I was blown away by how satisfied I was. But it's not just the grub that's worth writing home about – the atmosphere is unbeatable too. With a mix of friendly locals and curious tourists, The Downe Arms seems like the kind of place where everyone feels at home. I can totally see why folks keep coming back for more! I'm already counting down the days till my next visit - I'll definitely be staying in one of their rooms as soon as they're ready! If they're anything like the food, drinks, and service, I'm gonna be one happy guest. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and swing by The Downe Arms Inn – you won't be sorry!

Attended pub at lunchtime so did not get any idea of alcoholic drinks selection. Tasty coffee however. Really interesting building filled with interesting books and even a free pool table! (Obviously not the highest quality but nevertheless great fun) Also a nice looking beer garden but we didn’t use as wet and cold.

Popped in after a trip to Runswick bay with the dogs. Even though it was Mother’s Day and all the tables were reserved, the staff were all lovely and fitted us in for fantastic roast dinner and a couple of pints. Really friendly welcome, cosy pub and lovely food.

Had a lovely one night stay at the Downe Arms Inn. Room was very clean, very well presented and despite being above the pub we heard no noise whatsoever. All staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food (both evening meal and breakfast) were superb and excellent value for money. Would definitely return and recommend to others.

Must order the Parmo, like a schnitzel layered with cheese and toppings. The pub-named burger also yummy. I like the nice salad that came with. Staff went beyond to get us a table when they are clearly fully booked, and returned with large bowl of skinny fries when they realised they served me chips which was not what I ordered. Foods so good I forgotten to take pics until we were more than halfway through.

The Downe Arms is a country pub that serves good ‘hearty’ food. Their Palmo selection is amazingly good. The menu has expanded recently and I look forward to sampling the new dishes. All selections satisfy a big appetite with quality and amazing flavours. (Smaller portions can be served )The landlord is a fun person and a great chef. His fiancé, Liv, runs an excellent bar (she has a great singing voice too)

Lovely table reserved for us. We were shown to our table by a really helpful member of staff and our drink order was taken as opposed to us having to go to the bar. Limited menu to what was displayed on the website but plenty of choice. We were advised we might have a45 minute wait which was fine by us. In reality it was about 30 minutes but our expectations had been managed. When the food arrived it was top quality home cooked, country fare. Tasty, affordable and plentful. The choice of beers was good and the service was great. I'll definitely be making this place one of my regular places for when I'm back home.

The Downe Arms is a pub I'd had recommended to me on several occasions, but I unfortunately had not been able to visit until recently. What a fantastic place! Amazing food; quite possibly the best Sunday dinner I've ever had; very friendly and helpful staff, in spite of it being busy and them having to adhere to the struggle of covid regulations; and to top it off, an excellent pint of ale. Me and the wife loved it all, and look forward to returning. One thing I have missed out - the most beautiful view from any pub I've ever visited from the beer garden. One can see right down to the end if the valley. Unfortunately wasn't the nicest of days but look forward to returning when the weather is better and sitting out there.

What a lovely weekend myself and a friend had staying at The Downe Arms. Very friendly staff who really looked after us. The pub is lovely and on the Friday night there was an acoustic duo who were very good. Our room was very clean and comfortable and breakfast was very nice. Check out time was 10.30am and we had a bit of a wait before going to an event on the Sunday. Staff were very kind and let us sit in the bar area and have more cups of tea which was very much appreciated. We would definitely stay here again.

Went back on Sunday, food was spot on, staff very friendly, nice atmosphere. All in all it's better that it's ever been, well done to the new team. Under new management.....popped in for a couple of pints this weekend and it's like a different pub. Staff are incredibly friendly and keen to make it work. A bit of a makeover has really improved the place. I'll be back to try the food soon and hopefully earn that extra 🌟.
