The Chef reccomendFirst time visit with family. Friendly staff. Quite basic surroundings. No napkins unless requested. Extremely disappointing food. We all had different meals from meat, chicken and veggie and we were all disappointed. No pitta with Kebab which I found a bit odd. Everything was an extra, Rice bread etc. Quite expensive for what it was. Sorry guys you can't please all the people all the time.
Good first visit to Ziyaret. Food very tasty, I had the mixed shish and the meat was lovely and tender. One of my friends tried the chicken casserole and really enjoyed that. Portions were quite generous. Service very polite. It was quite on the Monday we visited but apparently very busy at weekends, which we will try in a few weeks.
It's my second time visiting Ziyaret with a large group and it was just as fabulous as the first time. The food was delicious with perfect portions and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. They honestly couldnt do enough to accommodate us all. If you're after somewhere that is family run and not a generic chain, this is the place
Appetizers were very generous. Starters yummy, main substantial some spicy some not. Need to buy some more water jugs though.... So much meat.... Beautifully cooked.
Once again we have had a lovely family meal at Ziyaret. Friendly welcome and attentive staff (as always) coupled with unrushed service and great food. Highlights were the excellent Tzatziki, Lamb Moussaka and Mixed kebabs. Really good to see this family restaurant thriving after it's first year. Looking forward to our next visit already.
We've eaten at Ziyaret and had such a lovely meal (the complimentary bread - oh my), we've since had takeaway from here on more occasions than I can count (and should probably admit!). Great mixed grill, lamb chops and borek and a lovely cosy atmosphere in the restaurant. Will keep coming back and highly recommend
Tonight my wife and I visited Ziyaret restaurant for the first time. It was to celebrate my birthday and it will definitely not be the last time we visit. The restaurant is nicely decorated and furnished, there is a good ambience and an ideal location for an intimate meal. The food was exceptional. We had the garlic dip, bread and Turkish sausage to start. The Turkish sausage was the best I have ever tasted. For mains I had the mixed kebab and my wife had the lamb kebab. Both dishes were exceptional served with a salad. We had a side dish of vegetables but really didn't need it. To accompany the meal we had a bottle of Turkish white wine which was very nice. The whole meal cost just over £60 but was worth every penny. Thank you for a lovely food experience, we'll be going back soon.
Never been here before. The TripAdvisor reviews looked promising and they were right. We received a warm welcome on arrival and shown to our table promptly. The staff were very helpful and patient. Ordered flat bread with chilli dip as an appetiser and falafel with houmous for starters. Both dishes were very tasty. My main was lamb and hollumi shish kebabs. These were excellent, the lamb delicious and nicely grilled. Washed down with a glass of house red, which I have to say was good and went well with the meal. We will be heading there again. While we were there we witnessed one of the waiters dealing with a frustrating complaint from a customer who was completely in the wrong. Regardless, the waiter didn't become angry or impatient with the customer. He went out of his way to try and make sure she felt she felt happy with everything.
We ate here with friends last week for the first time. The staff were very friendly and attentive and were happy to let us sit there for the evening without being pestered to buy more drinks. However I felt that the food was ok with my vegetable hellim kebab and salad being pricey for what it was and not very filling. Also desserts as usual are on the small side for £5.
Would just like to say that I have been to this restaurant on several occasions and I have never been disappointed. The food and service is first class.
Girls night out. The waiter was great and the food amazing. Very reasonably priced. I can't wait to go back.
Our first visit with friends in Saturday, the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. The food was delicious, some dishes could do with a side order but will know for next time. Definitely recommend giving this place a try.
What a lovely surprise to find such good food and atmosphere. The food was excellent, service very friendly and best of all we could hear ourselves speak (even thought the restaurant was full). The owner was on hand to explain everything on the menu and give us his recommendations. I loved my yogurt and lamb dish, and the fact that the main courses come with a free small salad. I hope you go from strength to strength. This was certainly the best Turkish food I’d had in the UK and tasted very authentic.
Came for dinner on Friday night. Service for drinks and taking orders very slow. Food was good when it turned up.
Dropped in for an impromptu dinner on a Thursday ... it was surprisingly quiet... Clearly people are missing out. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal but very hospitable and the service is nothing short of first class - attentive , helpful and unobtrusive / they really know how to host in a relaxing way without making a fuss and yet making you feel special. And ... the food is excellent ... generous potions too. I’ve been here twice now and everything I’ve had has been lovely - and every Lamb dish I have tried has been superb ! I gather they get busy at weekends - not surprised. Go mid week and get spoilt !
It's my 5th time here and still the same very quality meal and very quality service, I strongly recomend this restaurant,plus it's very reasonable price when you compare with the others around ! *****
I’ve been here a couple of times now and always had a good time. When we arrived the restaurant was very busy and the staff clearly were stressed out as we waited a long time to be served for drinks despite asking to order several times. So the first half hour was quite disappointing especially as I’d recommended it. Thankfully, either the staff realised or the service calmed as they all pulled it round and were really quite lovely. Food delicious - all of it. Definitely recommend
Visited Ziyaret for the second time, on Friday night. The food was delicious. The restaurant was pretty busy when we walked in and had a nice buzz. There was one waiter and two waitresses looking after everybody. Neither of the waitresses seemed very experienced or could anticipate customers’ needs and were having to be well supported by the waiter. As an example of this, as we still hadn’t received our drinks about half an hour after we sat down I tried to catch a waitresses’ eye as she walked past and she just smiled back at me and walked on, completely missing the point that I wanted to speak to her. When we did finally get to ask for our drinks which we could see were sitting on the bar, she bought over the table water and then got distracted again so we still didn’t get our real drinks without asking yet again. I think if a table has been sitting down for over half an hour the waiting staff should spot themselves that no drinks have arrived at the table yet. Ziyaret your food is beautiful and I love the look of your restaurant both inside and out, but I hope you can up the level of your service with more training and experience for your staff. I will be back as the food is definitely worth it!!
We recently visited here twice in quick succession the food was so good. On the first occasion my wife and I visited, quite late, on Saturday evening having had a couple of drinks in the Ale House. When we arrived we were shown to one of the last vacant tables towards the rear of the restaurant. Notwithstanding how busy it was the service was excellent as was the food. We raved about it so much the next day that our teenage children twisted our arm and persuaded us for a return visit a week or so later. Again the food and service was excellent. We all really loved the quality, home made desserts; this is a great establishment and really good value for money one that we will return to, especially given its close proximity to the Station.

Lovely atmosphere, restaurant and background music perfectly fitting for the environment. Have to say I found the service amazing, waiter could not have looked after us any better, friendly, polite and professional staff. We ordered hot starters which were accompanied with baskets of bread, free of charge, would highly recommend the special halloumi sucuk dish, was to die for!! Mains were perfectly cooked and can tell they use a charcoal grill as the meat is beautiful. One member of our party was vegetarian which the restaurant catered for, recommending dishes and informing us of which dishes could be altered into a veg option, which was very kind of them. I have seen below that someone claims they do not have napkins on the tables unless you ask and bread, rice etc are of extra cost which is absolutely unfounded. Whenever I have been we have been given bread with starters for free or if we have just had a main meal bread has even accompanied. I have even walked past the restaurant overnight after they have closed and found the tables are set up beautifully. Would definitely reccomend Ziyaret Restaurant as the best food I have had in Chelmsford, not to mention the bar and delicious cocktails.
