Holee Clucker

Coming from the US and having lived in the UK the last four years, I thought I’d never have fried chicken as good as I remembered from home. Wrong! Holee Clucker was really, really good. If you miss those chicken sandwiches from the place that’s closed on Sundays, this will check that box. Buffalo and jerk wings were battered but otherwise on point. Mac and cheese fries were easily big enough for 2-3 people sharing. Shakes were big too, and really nice - cookies and cream stood out. GBP 48 for myself and three teenagers; we were all stuffed.

I've been to Holee Cow so many times and I had been waiting for Holee Clucker to open for ages. So we eventually got the chance to try it out in June 2021. There were covid restrictions in place so we had to scan the NHS barcode and disinfect our hands on the way in. It's an amazing looking venue and I assumed it would feel quite small as Bar 50 always felt small. But Holee Clucker is light and has mirrors down one wall which makes it feel a lot bigger. So we wanted to try so much from the menu but eventually we went for the buffalo burger, the chavacado burger, 6 jalapeño wings, cauliflower wings, bacon and cheese fries and a blue cheese dip. Amazing food! I loved the jalapeño wings, the cheese sauce on them was amazing! I didn't even get to try the cauliflwings as my girlfriend loved them so much she wouldn't share! Both burgers were amazing. I had some wine and beer and as expected it was all good. My only comment would be that the blue cheese sauce was not strong enough for me. I love it to be a real strong blue cheese taste, but it wasn't strong enough for my liking. But a very minor point and most people may prefer it to be not so strong. I would definitely recommend a visit for anyone, and you can also order a bucket of various chicken, which is for 2, otherwise I would've tried it!!
