I think, actually I know I’ve just had the best breakfast I’ve ever had. I’ll die on this hill as I am claiming the best breakfast in Surrey. The Old School house is a gem in the Surrey countryside. Used by locals and people from afar alike judging by the busy the car park (still lots of space), plus a smattering of cyclists and dog walkers, an eclectic clientele in a warm and welcoming eatery. A hubbub of conversations and life, just how relaxed dining should be. It’s really clean, it has rustic old school furniture and enough tables to satisfy even the largest of coach parties but still sized enough for it not to be hangar like. It says what it is, it’s an old school house so expect parquet floor, big windows and a high degree of ‘echo’ from voices, but a great sized cafe. This nostalgic feel is exactly the pitch the owners have gone for and it’s on point. So to the food, bubble & squeak brunch (superb) we had two of them plus the dirty fries (ample enough sized portion for two of us to share). I’ve had dirty fries a lot and I’ve never had ones as fresh, tasty and the right level of hit from the dried chilli flakes. The fried eggs were beautifully cooked, the sour dough was not toasted to an inch of its life so still had a a bounce to it. They get their bread from the Gingerbread Man so it’s something we’re used to. Some say local and do one thing, these say local and you can tell. I love supporting the local economy. No cheap beans used either and the dish was finished with a wee garnish of greenery. These finishing touches really let you know that there’s love put into every dish. We had a pot of tea for one each and you get 3 full cups from it, so really generous sized teapots also. Tea also comes in mugs too and obviously an extensive menu of others drinks are available including smoothies. I cannot fault my experience here and it set us up for a great bank holiday day. I’ve found a new regular breakfast place. Thank you. We will be back.

Fab little spot for breakfast after a night shift. Amazing breakfast selection. Great staff, very friendly and tried really hard to accommodate dietary requirements. Dog friendly, she even got brought out a sausage cut up for her to eat so a definite paws up from her too.
