Me and my brother, bought two pints of cask ale and it was clearly off.The manager offered us alternative drinks at no extra cost, then she gave us information about our last bus home. Couldn't fault the service.

In my opinion, the best place in Chester le Street. Probably because I have a nostalgic link to it... Every Saturday after the market for a few pints with my dad.
Anyway, the staff remain great, the place itself still has the same atmosphere, old style pub with friendly locals.

Great bar staff, best beer in Chester le Street. Been my watering hole for the last 17 years now and I won't go elsewhere. Anyone who comes into the market tavern as a stranger will leave as a friend.
Bustling little pub,lots of televisions to watch all the sport. Prices very cheap, lager £2,cider £2.20, beer £1.90, very nice pint. Toilets very clean ,pub is well kept and nice and tidy, bar staff good, friendly and helpful. Would recommend a look in if you are in the area.
