This is always a fun place to go but it wasn't as hopping as I expected it to be during alumni weekend for some reason. There's a good variety of food a great variety of beer and brews cozy setting. Check out the huge sword on the wall! I'm surprised it's not one of those places where if you wear a tie that they cut it off you and stick it on the ceiling! I expect that! It's very memorable experience. I understand that taking reservations now it used to be you just popped in but they do have a nice deck so you can eat outside too.

The service was great. No complaints even though they only had one waiter working at the time. With all the good reviews, I thought the food was going to be outstanding. It was just alright though. The beers were good. I got the beef pie and my S/O got the Auld Reekie stew. The food was cooked very homestyle, but it also tasted somewhat plain; nothing was really remarkable that stood out from the dishes. If you are a fan of light tasting food though, you might really like this place. Maybe we just got the wrong dishes.

This is the fairest review I can write.... we recently stayed in Chester, VT and ate here both nights and also made reservations both nights- definitely make a reservation!! The food, the beer, the atmosphere are all top notch- I can't fault anything on those fronts! We had such a great experience the first night, that we made a reservation for the second night of our trip. The second night... started out well... but we waited a REALLY long time to order. I didn't really care at the time, they were obviously busy and short staffed and I thought- 'well I'm not in any particular hurry, I'm on vacation.' Had I known then how the evening would end I would have been wavy down the staff insisting on ordering right away. We had a great meal with great drinks and decided that we wanted to have their amazing sticky toffee pudding for desert only to be brought the bill and told that the next reservation would be there in 10 minutes and that we had to leave. This policy actually didn't bother me at all- it's pretty popular, but normally you're told before you sit down that you would be limited to 90 minutes and there should be some grace time, if the wait staff is responsible for you being there so long because they're very slow. In addition, there was a table of regulars next to us, who ordered a few drinks, never ordered food, and were just allowed to be there all night while they shoved the "tourists" out as quickly as they could. Because of this, we will never go back, I understand that regulars are important, but it doesn't feel very nice as a tourist to be treated this way.

So glad we found and tried MacLaomainn's Scottish Pub. My wife had beef pie which she shared a bite with me and it was wonderful. I had a delicious roast beef sandwich. And our 7 year old enjoyed his PB & J sandwich. Very comfortable and welcoming inside. A little bit of a drive from home but we will definitely be going back. I do recommend calling ahead for a reservation.

Love the Scottish theme from the decor, food choices, beers, cider and staff in kilts. They have outdoor deck and cosy indoor seating. We have been here a few times and always enjoyed tasty food. Remember to save room for dessert.

What nice owners, great food, and, best of all, awesome Scottish beers. How many pubs have claymores on the wall? Family friendly, gracious, and the real Scottish experience. I want to visit again soon.

If I could do half stars, I would give this place 4 1/2 stars. Good, basic, filling fare. But that's what Scottish food is all about. Don't be skittish, go ahead, and try the Haggis. Very tasty. The swedes and tatties fill out the plate. If you want something basic, go for the meat pies. Well, I really wouldn't call a triangle of puff pastry a pie. I like poking in to the crust to reach the filling. This was the only drawback. Flavors were great, and thank you, the peas and carrots were properly cooked, not merely al denté. A cozy place with heart. Try it.

We've decided we love this place so much that the 2 hour drive is worth going two times a year instead of one. Their haggis is delicious but we've never had a bad meal here either! Also try the beers on tap, you won't be disappointed!
