The best pubs are English countryside pubs as they are chock full of character, and the Castle Inn is certainly no exception! The staff were very friendly and easy to have a chat with (very knowledgeable about the pub itself) and the food was excellent. I had the burger and my partner jacket potato with prawns. You definitely get what you pay for. The chips were crisp on the outside but fluffy on the inside, and the burger was a no nonsense good old fashioned burger, just tasted great. Good selection of drinks available, including non alcoholic for those who drive. In the sun the garden is a lovely place to sit and enjoy your meal or just a nice cold drink!

Maybe not a usual review, but thanks to the manager that last Sunday found us an alternative place to dine. As we arrived at the pub after the kitchen closed, he offered a few other places and even called The Rock pub to check if they still serve food. Thank you for this, and if we are in the area, we will definitely visit you.... earlier. Customer service - top notch!

Haven’t been here for some 20 years. It was amazing in the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s. Went back on Sunday for lunch. New owners, new staff, still amazing food from the menu. Huge generous portions. Good wines, local ales from Larkins Brewery down the lane. Unhurried service. Apologies from staff as there was a gap between starters and mains but that was incidental, we like to take our time. We left after a good 2 1/2 hours well satisfied with the beverages, food and service and vow not to leave it so long until our next visit. Well done everyone.

We went to the pub today for lunch. It was the first visit for the 4 of us and to be honest the food was outstanding! best chips that we have EVER had!! The staff were brilliant and Luke who looked after us was extremely efficient and friendly, as was Ed and we believe his mother. We’ll definitely go back again, wishing the team every success Phil

We came across the village and this wonderful pub by chance after spending my birthday at Hever Castle. The staff in the pub were very friendly, helpful and polite. We both ordered a roast, which must be one of the best I’ve ever had! It was beautiful!! Sitting in your garden, on my birthday afternoon, in the sun - couldn’t have asked for more! Thank you!

Super pub and it is now under new management. I urge you to go and try it and give them some support. Beautiful old pub that has been lovingly restored now. Often in the village for walks - a great end to any walk!

First time visit to the pub, will definitely revisit. Best Sunday Roast we've ever had in a pub. Too full for dessert, so definitely go back. New owners and all staff friendly, helpful and welcoming.

Lunch with our young daughter and it was superb from start to finish. The whole team were so friendly, welcoming and thoughtful. Beautiful table by the fire. The best fish and chips we've had in years. Can't wait to go back and wishing the team every success.

It was a nice sunny day we were at a campsite nearby and walked over an hour with little kids to get here by foot. When we got here the kitchen was closed as they had reservation for a birthday party but the staff are so kind helpfull and understandable that they ended up reopening the kitchen and cooked for us including desert. As a pub is very nice classic country side very lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend and affordable prices. Definetly will go again

Lovely old country village pub in a great location. A friend took us there for a very enjoyable meal. Think we'll be going back there again soon.

We visited Chiddingstone Village yesterday and had lunch in the pub. What a lovely setting, very traditional and cozy. It has new owners who were very friendly and accommodating. A choice on the lunch menu from meals to snacks. All food homemade and very delicious. Will definitely be coming again

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Could not recommend The Castle Inn enough. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is amazing. We held our sons Christening at The Castle Inn and everything was perfect. They went above and beyond to ensure everyone had an amazing day. The buffet provided was excellent with a large variety of food, drinks were served to guests quickly and with ease. If anyone is looking for a beautiful setting with great food and fantastic service this is your place !

An old building dating back to 1420, converted to an Inn in 1730. Good section of local beer and food. Intimate garden. Friendly staff. Lovely series of connecting areas.
