The best pubs are English countryside pubs as they are chock full of character, and the Castle Inn is certainly no exception!
The staff were very friendly and easy to have a chat with (very knowledgeable about the pub itself) and the food was excellent.
I had the burger and my partner jacket potato with prawns. You definitely get what you pay for. The chips were crisp on the outside but fluffy on the inside, and the burger was a no nonsense good old fashioned burger, just tasted great.
Good selection of drinks available, including non alcoholic for those who drive.
In the sun the garden is a lovely place to sit and enjoy your meal or just a nice cold drink!
Maybe not a usual review, but thanks to the manager that last Sunday found us an alternative place to dine.
As we arrived at the pub after the kitchen closed, he offered a few other places and even called The Rock pub to check if they still serve food. Thank you for this, and if we are in the area, we will definitely visit you.... earlier. Customer service - top notch!
Haven’t been here for some 20 years. It was amazing in the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s. Went back on Sunday for lunch. New owners, new staff, still amazing food from the menu. Huge generous portions. Good wines, local ales from Larkins Brewery down the lane. Unhurried service. Apologies from staff as there was a gap between starters and mains but that was incidental, we like to take our time.
We left after a good 2 1/2 hours well satisfied with the beverages, food and service and vow not to leave it so long until our next visit.
Well done everyone.
