Had the fish sandwich. Batter was light, crisp and not dripping with oil. It was perfect. Fish flaked and I would be very surprised if fish that good was frozen meaning fresh ingredients which certainly contributed to the success of its taste. An impromptu stop in on the back of a four hour journey home from the holidays but definitely a hidden gem and would recommend the food immensely.

Went up for fathers day lunch staff was VERY VERY friendly. The pub was clean and felt welcoming, food smell lush. I had roast beef while my partner and little boy had pork, the beef was so tender and tasted of old fashioned home cooked food. The pork was also tender and tasty and so much, little boys meal came all on plate and he eat the lot the veg came out for ours and was steaming hot. We had puddings also and they was all fantastic will definitely be going back again and again. Thanks to the staff for their service

We tend to visit here every year on our trip to Golden Cap. Staff are lovely and food is really good. As I require gluten free it’s so nice to see items clearly marked. I had the fish pie which was very nice. It came with crispy kale which was superb! My husband had the pork loin which was a bit too salty and a bit over cooked for his tastes but we’ll definitely be back on our annual trip!! Only improvement would be to have a gluten free beer available.

Were staying local for my birthday weekend and popped into The George for a drink or two on arrival day. Made to feel very welcome by the lovely ladies behind the bar. Our weekend ended there three days later by having a Sunday roast, wow beautiful as was the dessert. All very reasonably priced and a good drinks selection. Tastefully decorated. The small room on the left as you walk through the main door is cosy as is the restaurant. More seating past the bar and extensive outdoor seating area for the summer months.

Really lovely welcome here and we had a pleasant meal with the dog. The scallop starter special was lovely, as was the blanche bait (though the portion could have been bigger). The gammon special was excellent, as was the fish pie but the sea bass dish was a little disappointing (all dishes could have been seasoned more). Overall a great experience, the server was very attentive.

Travelling home from Devon, we wanted to stop somewhere for a roast dinner and came across The George Inn. The staff were friendly and welcoming when first approached and we could take our dog in. My roast dinner was the best I've ever had, totally delicious! Puddings were also delightful. The decor is very tasteful and atmosphere lovely. This will be our future stop off when passing through for sure.

A great place in an ideal location for a pitstop. A warm and friendly welcome on entering the establishment. A deceptively large premises and we were afforded our own table in the snug which was quintessentially an English pub. The staff were brilliant and the food delicious. We had scallops to start, DBV burger and pork loin for mains and all were excellently cooked and presented. A must experience and worth a visit. Thank you to all.

We are on holiday from Coventry and have just visited this beautiful pub for our evening meal. As soon as we walked in (I'm guessing manager or landlord) made us extremely welcome. We had our very nervous German Shepherd with us and even he felt settled and comfortable. The table staff were very polite, courteous and absolutely lovely. We weren't constantly interrupted whilst eating apart from the odd beggy German Shepherd paw. Now to the meal. Absolutely beautiful. Beautifully presented, cooked perfectly and possibly the best pub meal we've had in a long time. The pub itself is so comfortable and cosy and everything you would want from a place to relax and enjoy an evening meal on a rainy day before returning to camping. I cannot say much more apart from please visit this pub as it really was the loveliest experience with the warmest of welcomes. JUST WONDERFUL! Thank you all at The George Inn for a lovely experience x

Lovely friendly pub, with parking as well as good food. Good service and limited, but good option- menu. Well worth a visit. Has a nice "family feel".

Second visit in as many days. Dropped in for Sunday lunch as yesterdays food was lovely. A well presented roast beef lunch with crispy potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and tasty gravy. Slight unimpressed with vegetable served although cooked perfectly just would have liked maybe red cabbage as informed but won’t stopped me popping in again when I’m in the area.

Ate here a couple of times over the bank holiday weekend, once it was quite quiet and once very busy. Their standards didn’t drop. Good tasty, locally sourced pub food and a decent selection of beers. Pretty big place with loads of room spread across different areas. Nice outdoors area too.

Love The Anchor at Seatown for the views but the vege options are not to my taste and we were recommended here for the food. Couldn’t rate it highly enough! The food all round was just absolutely delicious!! (husband and daughter loved theirs too and we all practically licked the plates clean;) Great service too and we will definitely be back next time we are in Dorset- thanks 😊
