Lovely village tea room in Chilham. Fabulous home made cakes. Also does light meals. Two coffees, cake and a scone with all the trimmings, around £13. Recommended.

I had a cream tea with the plain scone and it was the best scone I think I’ve ever had

Yesterday we had a fantastic afternoon tea for three at the Church mouse. The owner was extremely attentive and even brought out a special tea cup for our 6 year old daughter to drink her apple juice from. Everything was so fresh the scones were still warm and to be honest, we are in Cornwall and Devon a lot, but live in Kent, and these have to be THE best scones we have had anywhere. We will definitely be visiting again soon as this is an excellent stop-off point from both the Pilgrims Way and our shopping trips to Canterbury.

We stopped here for drinks first, went for a walk and then came back for lunch as we found out they could cater for my sons dietary needs. Service was lovely and personal. The guy did apologise about the coffee machine not working but we could have anything from the menu, if we wanted coffee, it would be instant.
We came back for lunch, had either a sandwich or baguette each with a scone. That was lovely as it was all freshly made and the scones were warmed up. We will be going back again next time we go to Chillham.

Excellent cake!🍰 A lovely place to visit after going around Chilham Castle gardens, which has no tea room.
The Church Mouse is very cosy, with tables squeezed into two small rooms, plus tables outside in the sun. Staff are very friendly and the service was quick. Not sure if there are customer toilets as we didn't need to use any and the public car park has some and it's very nearby.
Would give this place 5 stars had I tried more of the menu, but as we just popped in for the essentials, cake and a drink, we didn't get the full picture. I would definitely go back if I was in the area again
