What a fantastic place it now is. Been a couple of times before under the last management and was ok but since Karen & Gary Thomas has taken it over what a change. , my Sunday lunch was Huge !! And watching. The other people’s food orders come out they were huge too, my wife had the beer battered cod , it was the best fish and chips she has had in a very long time. Yes there is a few improvements needed like getting more staff I think but the one there all had their face masks on etc Can’t wait to go back next week for a huge Sunday lunch

My cousin and I were there for lunch on Wednesday and would not advise anyone to go there. It is a beautiful old pub but the service seemed to be a real effort. My cousin decided to have the haul I chips with sweet chilli sauce. Although she did order the starter option, 4 small chips seems rediculous. I ordered the ham, chips and eggs asking if I could have my eggs "sunny side up" (runny), but when they arrived they were absolutely solid. They did bring replacement eggs which were nearly right but by then lunch was spoiled. Won't be back.

Food was excellent. The best meal we have had there for a few years now. All meals came out piping hot and plenty of it. Christmas party for 12 people and we had the conservatory all to ourselves with Christmas music playing softly in the back ground. The staff are so friendly and attentive too. Lovely place to dine or just sit with friends for a quiet cosy chat with real fires.

We came here as it was the only place in Chippenham with a kids play area, that was closed - which I understand but I did expect some alternatives for young ones to do. The service was poor, we got overcharged, none of the Covid guidelines were followed, the food was terrible and we all became ill within 2-5 hours of eating it. The only up side was that the pub was very quiet and so we had an area to ourselves. I am not a fan of leaving such negative reviews, especially at this time, but this was truly terrible. I hope it was just a poor day as most of the reviews here are very positive.
