Such a homely, welcoming place to stay as we walk the Cleveland Way. Wolfgang could not have been more accommodating, cooking us wonderful vegan food for dinner and breakfast. Unique selection of German beers on tap. Would stay again!
Had a pub stop over in our van, Beautiful Food and German Beers. Had a Beautiful Full English Breakfast with quality ingredients the next day. Looking forward to didn't stay in Hotel so can't comment on rooms.
Excellent place to call, has 6 to 8 German lagers on tap plus 3 taps of Timothy Taylor's, Sunday dinners very good with everything genuinely fresh , how many places give you properly cooked asparagus with Sun lunch? Remainder of menu has Germanic flavour , all food is excellent. Very popular with wa
This place delivers exactly what it advertises. This is not a posh location but a walkers inn. Muddy boots and dogs are welcome. So with that, do not expect luxury. These are simple accommodations, but it’s clean and comfortable. WiFi in the rooms (or my room) was nonexistent and no cell service, bu
We went for a ride out and popped in for lunch.....they had completely sold out of food!! As we arrived a man immediately told us that they had no food (apart from the huge collection of cakes), so we decided to stop for a drink and come up with a plan b. There was a large selection of lagers and 3
This is easily one of the best pubs I've ever been to. It's small, quiet, and feels like you're coming home. The selection of beers are great, the food is amazing (I had the burger - highly recommend) but Wolfgang, Helen and Catherine, who run the place are really what makes this place special. Very
Quite unique country pub serving regular British fayre and popular German dishes such as schnitzel, spätzel and strong wheat bier. Very quiet when we visited midweek and food served in a timely manner by friendly staff. Dog friendly and clean toilets too.
What a lovely pub! After 10 miles through the moors and aching ankles, we were so happy to come into Chop Gate and find an open pub still serving food. The lady behind the bar was so friendly, fast service and the food was absolutely GORGEOUS! My partner got the steak and it had the best onion rings
We had a very good meal here on a lunchtime. Good quality food, different types of dishes and great service. Set in a beautiful countryside location. Would highly recommend going here.
There is an alternative history in which this country pub with rooms stayed derelict and no one got any delicious beer, or any all meat gluten free and amazing sausages, or rich tasty stews, or a comfy bed after a long walk in the moors. Instead, Wolfgang and Helen arrived having been around the wo
Fantastic location and good selection of beers. We booked for dinner and food was delicious and authentically German. Friendly staff and the bonus of being completely dog friendly and allowed in the dining room, which makes it special when on holiday or after a walk. Helpful and accommodating to a s
Just had a wonderful lunch at The Buck Inn. I remember having a quick bite there years ago and sat outside. This time we ate in. It's very cosy and welcoming and has a lovely menu (we had a burger, schnitzels, Bratwurst hot dog and sausage ciabatta). The lady that served us was very friendly and
Thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Myself a hunter schnitzel and spaetzle and my husband a goats cheese salad followed by german strudel and sticky toffee pudding. Delicious.
How an excellent Spring fest in aid of Mountain Rescue. Good by the band, Bagpipe player and Guitarist. We stayed over night in nice comfortable room. Meals were good.
Lovely welcome from Wolfgang who's German and wears lederhosen! Lots of German lagers and beers to choose from as well as German food. The camping field was great (like butter and stone free) as were the shower facilities. Could be a queue for the shower though if it's really busy. Wolfgang will ev
Friendly place to go if you are in Chop Gate. Good food and lovely service. We had the Sunday lunch which was just what we needed after a long walk on the hill. Venison was delicious as was the lamb.
Best German Vegan meal outside of Germany. I had vegan bratwurst, my wife had vegan schnitzel, both excellent. German lagers on draft too. We stayed in hut at end of garden. Shared shower could be a bit cleaner Breakfast excellent, homegrown fried potatoes.
Only popped in randomly for a coke on my bike whilst passing as it looked like a nice place to stop. Lovely little pub, and although I didn't eat, I bet the food is lovely....well worth a visit if passing !
