Excellent food, atmosphere, and service. I was there for their special fish set-menu evening, the food was clearly fresh and almost certainly caught that day. I didn't stay over, thus the zero stars for rooms, but everything else, most definitely five stars.
We had the family room, which was nice and big.
Road makes it a little on the noisy side with lorrys passing during the night at speed.
Staff were fantastic, particularly Chloe.
Food was great, some items a little on the pricey side but good selection to choose from and we never had a bad meal in the 3 days we were there.
Pub has a lovely feel to it. Would recommend overall.
Had a great overnight stay here, the staff were very kind and welcoming. The mattress was super comfortable and the shower was great. We didn’t stop for breakfast, but we did have drinks and an evening meal in the restaurant and the quality and taste of our meals was fabulous. We will be staying here again in the future
Excellent friendly staff especially Scott and his team even though busy! Great food. Rooms nice but could do with a bigger fan when hot outside as it was roasting in room 4.
Visited recently with family on a nights stay. Enjoyed the new menu which had some new pasta dishes and sandwiches which was a great addition. Specials also looked great but with all the new choices we only had the langoustines from the specials board. Will be back again soon, without the kids! Thank you to Chloe on breakfast who looked after us!
This place is one of the very best I’ve been to recently. Ample parking, very pleasant staff and a superb choice of local real ale. Very characteristic pub with a welcoming atmosphere. A truly excellent pub. Highly recommended!

Nice room with all usual Oakman trimmings. Staff very helpful and welcoming.
Food was superb. We both had the ham hock Scotch Egg to start with an excellent home made piccalilli. Fresh fish (Hake & Dover Sole) to follow were perfectly executed. Rounded off by a delicious Creme Brulee which completed a faultless performance.
Stayed one night had dinner and breakfast.
Room nice and comfortable but could do with a bit of a refresh.
Food was very good indeed with options that would suit most people. Although I’m not a vegetarian I chose a veggie option (very unlike me) and really enjoyed. Excellent fish options with the menu also catering for those meat lovers as well.
Only downside was the service was very very slow.
Eat in the restaurant on our visit. The quality of the food was good, and you could definitely tell it had been home made rather than whipped out of the freezer. Reduced to 4 stars as the wife said the chocolate fondant wasn't very chocolaty, and the service charge was opt out rather than opt in which always annoys me. I don't mind leaving a tip but I don't like it being automatically added to my bill.
What a lovely place to stop off on the way to/from Scotland. Lovely room, very reasonably priced. Lovely staff. The food was delicious, especially the Gnocchi and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of the creamed spinach which was like a bowl of cream with spinach but perhaps that's personal taste and it was removed from the bill. We would definitely stay here again
